Last night I heard The rain tap dance on my window Its soles hitting the glass with a rythem as steady as a drum
Listen to me It commanded softly Listen to what I have to say girl
The world ain't what it is supposed to be The rain sighed I've travled to African plains Quinched of animals And believe me it ain't no pretty sight And you haven't heard a thing
I've seen Niagra falls Stop pouring laughter and trickle tears She barely smiles now days Because her fish are gone And girl she's lonely again
The down under has Become his name and is Sinking below six feet Weighted by poachers bullets and traps Burning his back like the hot sun Melting him into the ocean
And I've choked on New York air That is thicker than Mount Fugi When she erupts And girl let me tell you The world ain't what it is supposed to be
But Rain I said softly What about the blushing sunsets Over the ocean? Have you seen these? And what about the Nothern Lights Over Artic Ice Those aren't wrong
And the Rain laughed That may be girl that may be But then again you are still a young girl And you haven't seen what I have Though my years
I might now have Rain I said But I know that like the leaves in the fall The world can still change
