Of the Underground Labyrinth
Sahm and the Underground Labyrinth

After arriving to the entrance of the tunnels, and seeing Lial already taking the perimeter, Sahm led his kitsunes in. He expected... well, regular tunnels, with curving and winding paths that rarely branched off. What he encountered was a perfectly confusing Labyrinth. The walls were all smooth and straight stone. The angles at turns were perfect, and there was no noticeable slope to the ground after the first 50 feet in. The stone kept little scent behind, as well, as if after a few hours, it simply faded into the stone until only the smell of stone remained. Sahm knew this because while he was sure Rose had been through here only a few hours before, her scent stopped at the entrance.

Sahm followed the only scent he could trust; Kyrre's. He caught up with the kitsune soon enough, as the Den Leader had had to backtrack a few times as it was.

"Kyrre." Sahm said as his group neared the other's.

Kyrre responded quietly. "Sahm. Its too hard to tell." He wanted to believe they could find her, but so far, they'd found, quite literally, nothing. "Her scent... I followed it in a ways, but... its faded completely now." He sighed.

Sahm sighed.

"So, what do you suggest now?" Sahm asked, trying out ideas and tossing them away in his own mind.

"Well, we split up. There are three branches from this point going forward, and this is the last place I had her scent. We leave one kitsune here, and split along the paths, and continue to split as we explore further. Whoever finds her trail- or her- sends back foxfire to this point, where we leave someone to send the recall to the others." Kyrre explained.

Sahm just nodded. Seemed like a great plan. "All right, but... I say we also tell them to send out two foxfire trailers if they encounter enemies. In a fight in here, we'd be at a disadvantage." He was worried that this whole thing was a trap, to take down most of the Fifth Leaf Den. If that was the plan, it was working well enough already.

"Nice. Okay." Kyrre responded, and turned to the kitsunes practically pouring down the tunnels just to be nearby. "Everyone get that? One foxfire trailer-bird back here if you find her, and two if you find trouble. Got it?"

Heads nodded all around, and Kyrre smiled. "Great, Who volunteers to call?" Kyrre asked. No one responded. He paused. "Well, who is our best at relaying messages? Whoever might possibly be the best speaker among us, able to ensure that everyone gets the information? Who could possibly-"

"Oh shut it already." Sahm said, and a couple of kitsunes giggled. Sahm was Speaker for their Den, for their whole Region, and for good cause. He was the best at getting messages out and relayed correctly. He didn't want to do it, but... he could never deny the importance of his calling. "I'll do it." Sahm said, and sighed.

A few moments later, and all the kitsunes had dispersed down the tunnels, leaving Sahm feeling quite alone, and bored, and somewhat useless.

"I hope they find her soon." Sahm said quietly to himself. "I don't like the smell of this place."

I agree wtih Sahm. There's something horribly wrong with that Labyrinth... besides the kidnapping that is.

Sahm's very grounded. Everyone should listen to him.

He's like a conscious, just like Nari my pixie... but without the annoying , "Hey, Listen!"s.
