Today I discovered the writing in the Sookie Stackhouse books improves to actually enjoyable around the forth book. This is cheering. I've been reading them ahead of the TV series as the TV series is so much better than the books that it was hard to drag through the first one knowing how weak it was by comparison. The show's still better, I think, but I'm actually enjoying Dead to the World in it's own right, which is a pleasant change.
