Shrouded in black, the mysterious bird creeps to the edge of the sky. It peeps down at the world beneath its feet, shivering a little. A flutter of wings reveals a glowing orange light as it plummets to the ground below, announcing the arrival of dawn. I sit by and drink a cup of black coffee.

I found the subject too interesting for the response to be contained in a single comment.

I generally remember four or five dreams per week. I have an unusually good memory though (in my opinion; it may instead be that I just remember different things from other people), so I'm not really that surprised. I've had lucid dreams before, and I remember my dad telling me about them when I was smaller (though in less technical terms).

Often my dreams are a bizarre mash of people, places and experiences I've seen/had etc. over the course of the day or week. It's common for me to dream about one or two people/things from real life and one made up person or thing. The location is usually something made-up unless it's a prominent place (such as New York or school). My dreams don't normally involve talking, just lots of bright colors (I can usually name almost every color of anything in the dream when I wake up) and observation. I think my brain must just focus on the things around me more than what's going on, because I usually remember every detail about the place I'm in and what colors everything is but I can hardly ever remember the details of the people around me for more than a few hours, nor can I remember anything that was said. I can remember conversations that were had, but not what they were about.

For example, there's a particular dream I had when I was still with my mother in England a few weeks ago. I was sitting on a beige carpet in a bedroom. My mom was sitting at the computer (she's on the computer a lot) and there were two cats in the room with us. One was my dead cat Kylie and the other was some weird cat I didn't know. I can't remember what the other one looked like except that it was small, and if I didn't know what my mom and Kylie looked like from real life I doubt I'd remember what they looked like at all. The only thing I remember about my mom from the dream is that she had brilliant red hair. My mom has dyed her hair bright red for most of my life and recently dyed it bright pink and purple, so I figured the red was just from memories.
However, I can remember EVERYTHING about the room. The bed was twin-size and in the right-hand corner of the room on the wall opposite the door (I was sitting nearest the wall with the door). The duvet was a bright sunny yellow and the walls were warm orange. There was a window a little to the left of the bed with soft green curtains. The window was open and the curtains were drawn and there was a nice breeze. The desk on which the computer sat was wood, and sort of medium leaning-towards-light brown. The monitor was one of those clunky old Apple ones that said "Mac OS" with that weird face when you started them up and the sides were blue. There wasn't a closet (or a visible computer) and the only thing dark in the room was the door, which was mahogany-ish. The desk w/ monitor was situated across from the door, but shifted to the right so that if you drew a straight line it would go from the edge of the door frame to the corner of the desk. There weren't any light fixtures. And yet, with all that I CAN'T figure out what color that second cat was.

I think my dreams are pretty normal.

Okay, on to lucid dreams:
I think I've had a couple. Most of my dreams are just looking at things though, so there might have been more that I just didn't realize. I did have a lucid dream recently though, right before the beginning of school. It was weird because I FELT like I was awake, but I didn't feel any moving even though I thought about getting up. I was at school and I was all confused and wondering how I got there, and then I realized that I was dreaming. It was really weird.
Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't.

Do you think a stronger right brain affects dreams? I'm just curious, because I'm left-handed and I've read books about building right-brain strength. Apparently the left is associated more with words and things, which I can never remember in my dreams.
Huh.

Remember how I mentioned t-shirts yesterday? Today my dad texted me that he got me ALL of them Dx
Well, I'll certainly enjoy them. It was nice of him.

Do you remember them in great detail four or five times a week? I'm usually aware of my dreams when I wake up, and can remember what happened. However, I don't really care so I forget them quickly. I think I may not have to do much in the area of trying to remember, as I just have to keep track a little better. We'll see.

Everyone experiences dreams differently. It sounds like you could make some interesting paintings, if you were able to control that. I remember mostly conversations with slight detail in the surroundings. I think my dreams could be better to write stories with, as the events are sometimes complex and arch through several of my dreams. I've written a few stories in the past from dreams I remembered.

I just woke up not long ago and I can remember the dream I had. You were in it, hah! Well, not really. You talked to me over the phone though. I remember the conversation completely. You were a real goofball and in a very happy/hyper mood. It was pretty funny.

I'm not sure how the brain could affect dreaming. If I recall correctly, the left and right brains aren't quite as dominant as people are lead to believe. The art and logical aspects are supposed to be evenly shared by both sides of the brain. Though each person has their own unique way of thinking and learning, which I feel would have a stronger overall affect. I don't really think the sides play into it that much.

Well aren't you little miss lucky! You're getting showered with all kinds of gifts from all over the place.
