I lay in bed awake,
The darkness has crept in.
My eyes circle the room,
Trying to find any hint of the light.
Every nightmare I ever had,
Was there lurking in the shadows.
I found a spot of light,
It was from the moon.
I got up from the bed,
Walking into the moonlight.
One of the nightmares hit me,
My legs were knocked underneath me.
I touched my lip,
The taste of blood was in my mouth.
It tried to keep me to the floor,
But I found it first and pinned it down.
It struggled as I held it down,
Wanting to free itself to cause me more torture.
There was no way I'd let it,
And it was soon faded back into the shadows,
No longer able to do anything to me.
As soon as the nightmare vanished,
The moon shone brighter than ever,
I could've swore it did that because it was thanking me.
