Time spent doing something you want goes fast as if it were not there when it happened, but time spent doing something you wouldn't want to do seems to stretch until it may seem unbearable. Why does time seem to minimize our joy and elong our discontent? Maybe it is not time, but the human mind and how it concentrates on pain. Most news that makes it to the papers is that of tragedy and disaster. You might get a couple stories with a good outcome, but the rest could make you cry. Do we focus on pain because it is the truth of our lives or because it sticks out more than anything else? By showing our pain do we expect others to pity us? These questions may seem odd, but need an in-depth answer unless I am overlooking something obvious.
