Shrouded in black, the mysterious bird creeps to the edge of the sky. It peeps down at the world beneath its feet, shivering a little. A flutter of wings reveals a glowing orange light as it plummets to the ground below, announcing the arrival of dawn. I sit by and drink a cup of black coffee.
Metaphorically speaking
I "auditioned" for this part in chorus today. We're singing America the Beautiful for a concert on Friday, and Mr. D wanted one person to sing a REEEEEEEEEEEALLY high note at the end above everyone else, and I did very well. He wanted us to audition because he wanted to see who could pop up to it the quickest and sustain it the longest, which was me. There's another girl, Haylee (who auditioned for All-State) who did pretty well too, but she was slower and didn't hold it as long. If he chooses her, he's just playing favorites :< Anyway, we'll see.

I'm officially single again which, I must say, is better. More freedom, you know? I no longer have to worry about meeting her in the halls and and arranging to sit with her at lunch and talking to her constantly and planning stuff out-of-school. I get to channel my effort into other things!
I feel like a lost a lot through the past month. Most of it wasn't returned to me, but I always told my mother that I knew I'd expect too much out of a relationship. I guess it's just the way I am. Nobody's perfect.

I'm on the fifth book of the Hitchhiker series. It's amazing! It gets a little confusing, though, and I don't see as much of Zaphod as I'd like to. He wasn't even in the fourth one! I don't really like Ford Prefect that much. As in, he's not at the higher end. Nor is Fenchurch, really. Alex said she disappears in the fifth one. He's not done with it yet though.

No school tomorrow! I'm excited. Maybe I'll take a bike ride. I'll definitely do some karate though. I really need to work harder because my brown belt test looms on the horizon. I have to do 200 or so pushups, etc. Noooooooooooooo.
Better get to it!

I'm still behind in science. I really need to catch up. I'll probably just end up copying everything from someone else. I bombed a math test today, by the way. I can't remember all the stupid slope and line and quadratic function equations to save my life. My teacher says it'll give me trouble later if I don't get it now. Damn.

Sorry, no metaphors.

Just out of curiosity, what is it that you expect out of a relationship exactly? Is it entirely unrealistic?

I recently did a gigantic write up on relationships. Maybe I should post it in my journal, and y'all can tell me what you think.

If you plan on going into Calculus, it's important that your algebra is extremely solid. As any math teacher will tell you, the hardest part of calculus is the algebra. It's nothing but gigantic messes of equations that you have to unscramble using algebra. I'm not too sure about line and slope, but you do need to know the quadratic equation for calculus II through advanced calculus II. I remember using it quite a few times as a shortcut to an answer that would have otherwise taken forever.

Math should DIE!!!!!!!!!!! It's horrible, but unfortunately, you need it later in school. Trust me. I'm in chemistry and I use the quadratic equation all the time. And tons of algebra. Congrats on your singing. Wish I could sing... Now drop down and give me fifty pushups. Do fifty a day and you are done in four days! I can't even do one...Not enough upper arm strength. It's a family thing. XD I'd rather a sit up.
