“He…llo…Milord…”
It spoke. It only knew a few words, its porcelain lips moving rigidly as it greeted the tired-looking man who entered the darkened chamber. The porcelain moved in what seemed to be a miracle, the painted on make-up remained perfect as its lips formed a small smile.
“…Hello…” the man returned it’s greeting with a weak smile. Though it was made of china, the man’s expression looked more broken, sadness and regret leaking thought the cracks the smile left on his countenance. A deep sigh, and the man lay down on his extravagant bed. Almost imminently, he covered his face in his hands, remaining silent for a long moment. It knew how the man felt, it knew what to do in this situation. He hadn’t bothered to turn on the lights, nor did he stir when the elegant crown fell from his brow. Slowly, crookedly, it moved from the tiny shelf, it’s silk covered feet making the dust bunnies fly into the air around it.
It took a great effort, but eventually, it made its way to the man. Without a word, it lay down next to him, its glass eyes peering at the man’s covered own. There was a moment of struggle, but, it managed to place a tiny, cool hand on the man’s larger one. A true smile flickered onto the man’s face before a mock frown replaced it.
“What? Can’t sing anymore, Doll?”
The porcelain crinkled and stirred, still remaining flawless as its lips moved again. A gentle, soft tune surrounded the man, giving him a smile again. A happy sigh now, and the hands revealed the man’s once tearful eyes. There was only happiness now, the tears dried and invisible.
“Thank you…”
