We were talking about Property Law (here in Canada) today, and it was the concept of Gifts. The following is a conversation that ensued after the description of a gift was given in legal terms.
Prof D: It can't be recognized as a gift if there is no acceptance or a method of delivery recognized by the courts.
Student Bob: Is that why we teach our kids to say thank you? So they accept gifts given, right away.
Prof D: No. We teach them to say thank you so they're not antisocial... Well, less antisocial.
