5th Grade Gay Rights?
Was watching the Daily Show on Comedy central today and one of the stories was about a 5th grade boy who refused to stand up for the pledge of allegiance. The reason he did this was he wanted "liberty and justice for all", saying that there weren't equal rights for gays in America. So, his classmates responded by saying he was gay and a "gay-wad".
Well first off, if everyone who was for gay rights was gay, then I think the future population would be screwed. I mean seriously, but I guess these are kids and are all like "whatever". I mean when I was in 5th grade I barely cared one way or another about em. My only experience was people thought I was a lesbian cause I had one best friend -_- well excuse me for not having many friends in elementary school.
Sooooo... I don't even know where I was going with this. I just thought it was a semi-interesting story. Like I said, at that age I didn't really care about those kind of people, but this kid is better than me at least. In our classroom debates (in my debate class & my history class), whenever gay rights are involved, I don't contribute to the side of pro rights, no matter if its the topic of marriage or adoption or whichever. I guess I'm afraid of giving my opinions on those subjects.
