Shrouded in black, the mysterious bird creeps to the edge of the sky. It peeps down at the world beneath its feet, shivering a little. A flutter of wings reveals a glowing orange light as it plummets to the ground below, announcing the arrival of dawn. I sit by and drink a cup of black coffee.
A La Father Trouble
My dad is so frustrating sometimes. He has this way of saying things sometimes that screams "I'm right about this, and you're wrong. In fact, you're always wrong. Why am I wasting my time with you?" and it annoys the HECK out of me. I was sharpening a pencil and he thought I didn't have anything to do (before I'd told him I didn't have anything to do) but I was actually drawing and I told him so. He suggested I make a list of stuff I needed to do. I did, and I refused after a whole page because that would make me more depressed. So, of course, this compels me to do stuff on the list and stop what I actually wanted to do. And he was saying I should put stuff I wanted to do on the list too, and I said no because then I'd never get anything done, and he argued about it, and he took on that "you're stupid" tone and I got frustrated because ACTUALLY, I know myself better than he does and it annoyed me how he thinks he knows better than I do. It's a small thing, but he does it all the time and it builds up and gets more annoying. Anyway, he stormed off to his room like a frickin' seven-year-old. He does that.
He was supposed to give me back some of my makeup so I could put it on my newly-built shelf (he took it away because I wasn't cleaning enough, and he decided to give some back for cleaning the dining room but he wanted to wait until we bought a shelf for it), but instead he's in there sulking. Whatever.

Another thing is that I feel so under-appreciated. I get that I'm not the best, cleanliest daughter in the world, but I do stuff for him all the time and he's like "thanks". So you know, I figure I could ask him to do something small, just a small favor and he's all like "I do this and that and blah blah blah". But he really doesn't do that much!
My mom saw our house for the first time and she saw the dining room/kitchen (which I had JUST cleaned SPOTLESS) and she was like "ooh" and then she went into the bathroom (which I didn't have time to do but was just as dirty as the dining room had been) and she said to me "I can tell this is YOUR bathroom" and omg, I almost had a conniption. Granted, it was my stuff in that bathroom, but I'm the one that spends all the time cleaning up after my dad! She was married to him, so she should know that he's messier than me!

[/rant]
I know it's unfair for me to complain about my dad and this makes him look a lot worse than he is because he does lots of nice stuff too, but sometimes I have to get stuff off my chest. You know?

My mom would be happy if she saw this. She says that I always complain about her but that I think my dad is perfect. No, it's just that I keep my complaints about my dad to myself. I'm thinking of calling her once my dad stops sulking to rant. She'll understand.

I know how it is. My parents were the exact same way, and it annoyed the crap out of me. In fact, they're still like that. My mom would still complain even if stuff was completely spotless, which would drive me nuuuuuuts. Then they'd always go on and on, if you asked for a favor back.

I hated cleaning back then so much. rofl

Also, it's never unfair to complain about stuff that frustrates you. Saying stuff like that will only eventually make you complacent, which is no good. Plus, I'm sure everyone can relate one way or another.

Just a clarification on what I meant at the end of the last reply. By saying it's unfair to complain it's like saying, even if only slightly, that your feelings really aren't as important as other's. That in turn breeds complacency over time. Please don't think like that, because they are important.
