Full Metal Alchemist: Daniel Mayson's Story
This is just a few chapters I'm writing for a FMA Fanfiction I'm writing for a friend at my school.

~A Pure Stone?~

Daniel tried to concentrate as Moriko and Ed argued behind him. After a few moments, Daniel shouted, "Will you guys stop bickering so I can concentrate!?" Ed and Moriko glared at him and replied, "Butt out, Daniel! This doesn't concern you!" Daniel was shocked by this response and began to tear up. "Fine!" he replied, "Let's see you make a philosopher's stone without a human sacrifice!" He pulled on his coat and left, sniffling as he shut the door. "Huh?" the two asked, confused at what their friend had said. They looked down at his desk to see a piece of paper with these words written upon it:

I think I have found a way to restore my
friends without the need for a human sacrifice.
If I could just merely have a conversation
with Scar and sketch his markings, I could
uncover the secret to making a pure philosopher's
stone. I've noticed that Ed and Moriko act
strangely around Scar, so I must visit him alone.

"Poor guy..." Moriko said, "He's working so hard for us and we bite his head off..." Ed noddd and replied, "...Over something as trivial as what's for supper..." Their faces went pale when they reread the note. "No! Scar will kill him!" Moriko cried as Ed nodded in agreement. They both donned their coats and went out to search for their Ishbalan friend.

Daniel sighed as he sat in his favorite Chinese restaurant. Al sat next to im and asked, "What's wrong, Daniel?" Daniel looked up at Al and replied, "N-nothing... I just needed to get away from Ed and Moriko for a while..." "I see... Ever since Moriko had her baby, she and Ed have been both inseperable and quite moody," Al consoled him. Daniel sighed once more then chuckled as he replied, "Well, if Scar doesn't kill me, those two will." Al was confused for a moment before thinking that Daniel was kidding. After searching for an hour, the couple found their friend. Al was holding Daniel, for he fell asleep from eating several helpings of Lo Mein. Daniel let out a slight belch before cuddling close to Al. Moriko and Ed sighed in relief. They heard Al chukling, then saying, "You both treat Daniel as if he were your son." Ed returned the chuckle and replied, "Well of course. He's done so much for us." Moriko ran her fingers through his hair. "And he's willing to risk his life so we can live normal lives again..." she said, placing a hand over the stone in her chest.

Daniel awoke to see Ed and Moriko hovering over him. "Wha?-" Ed smiled and replied, "Welcome back, Dr. Mayson." Daniel sat up and rubbed his eyes. Moriko hugged his neck and said, "We were worried. We thought you had gone and gotten yourself killed." Daniel looked down and whispered, "I have to see him... for you..." Moriko squeezed him tighter and said, "No. You should live your life. Don't worry about us." Daniel looked into Moriko's eyes, tearing up as he explained, "I cannot just sit and let you suffer. How can I call myself a doctor when I have yet to experience true pain as you both have?" Ed pulled Moriko away and nodded. "Let me go Ed!" she cried as she tried to pull away. "No, Moriko, we need to let him go. He's matured a lot more than we think..." he explained. "But... he..." "Cries because he's insecure. It's how he was raised," Ed continued. "Don't be concerned with me, Scar and I are of the same blood." Moriko nodded at Daniel's words and hugged Ed. Daniel smiled and said, "Don't forget you still have Maes."

Daniel arrived at an Ishbalan camp disguised as a peasant. After asking around for a while, he finally found Scar. "Scar, I know you are ashamed of me and I realize you probably want to kill me, but I humbly request that I sketch your tattooes," Daniel said as he bowed to Scar. Scar pulled his sleeve up to reveal his markings and Daniel proceeded to sketch them, flawlessly reproducing them down to the placement of each letter. Daniel bowed his head and said, "I expect you're wanting payment..." Scar's markings glowed blood red as he placed his hands on Daniel's legs. The sound of an explosion and the shriek of a young man echoed through the canyon walls.

Scar handed a weak Daniel to Alphonse Elric and said, "Let your friend know that I am through with him... You should get him to a doctor..." Al rushed Daniel to where Ed and Moriko where relaxing after a hard day. "Brother! Daniel needs a doctor!" Al said, a tone of urgency in his voice. "Daniel is a doc..." Ed joked, turning around. His words were cut short at the sight of the bleeding stumps that were Daniel's legs. "DANIEL!!" Moriko shouted. Daniel opened his eyes and said weakly, "I've done it... I now know what true pain is..." Ed rushed to the phone and frantically dialed a number. "Pick up... Pick up..." he pleaded as the phone rang. "Hello? Rockbell Automail Shop." Winrey said on the opposite line. "Winrey! I have a top priority rush job for you!!" Ed said in a panicky tone. "You didn't break your arm again, did you?" Winrey replied, exasperated. "No! I have a friend who needs a two leg automail-grafting, stat!" Winrey dropped the phone from shock. "Ed!" Moriko scolded, "How do you know he wants auto-mail?" "I don't..." Ed replied seriously. "I know he needs it..."

Pinkao Rockbell sighed as she started the painful surgery. "It's been a while since I've done an actual grafting... And this will be the most difficult one yet... He doesn't have another leg I can use as a reference..." Moriko waited outside, worrying all the while. "Daniel and I are the same height, so you can use my legs as a reference." Ed said, modeling his legs so Winrey could measure them. "Ed..." Daniel said weakly as the IVs pumped their life giving fluids into him. "Tell Moriko... I have the secret..." Winrey rushed to create a left leg and a right leg and had them finished within two days, taking a third day to check and double check everything to make sure everything would work. Daniel yelled and shouted as they as they attached the artificial nerves to his real nerves. "All done..." Pinako stated as Daniel breathed a sigh of relief. Winrey wiped her brow and instructed, "Try flexing your toes." Daniel did as he was told and, to his surprise, the auto-mail moved just like his own flesh and blood. "Take good care of those. They're my best job yet," Winrey bragged.
((Whew... Don't expect regular updates... gonk ))
