The once was a town called "Hinamizawa." It was such a peaceful town; but good times were short lived. A boy named Keiichi moved to the town due to personal reasons; Then a month or so later weird events start to happen. The Town holds a Festival once a year called "The cotton drifting festival." Each festival, for the last five years, has been plagued with one murder and one disappearance. Everyone thought it was part of Ohyashira's curse, but as times goes on, the real truth it revealed.
Way back in the day, before Hinamizawa was called hinamizawa. There was a festival where someone would be sacraficed and their organs would float down the river. Every villager would then take and eat a piece of it. The reason. . . they had a pariste amungst them. One so deadly that it would make the host go crazy, and slaughter anyone they deemed "in the way." There was a doctor named Ohyashiro, who tried to cure the parasite. Once it failed, he began a rule, to keep all the people from leaving, and no one was allowed to enter.
As time went on the Town changed its named to Hinamizawa, and with it hid all its secrets. Only those in the three big families, knew about the full past. In order to protect the people in town, as well as to keep the old traditions alive, they would slaughter anyone who found out the secret. They also had a special medicine they tried to give the infected, but most of the time the infected clawed their own throats out before they could receive treatment.
It was also believed to some who found out that it had to do with alliens, and that they made another copy of the parasites hosts; and with good reason this seems pretty true. Like People killing and not being present for the cotton drifting festival; magically being at the festival too. The murdered victims, somehow being alive long enough to spread the truth to a select few. Whatever the cause, two of the same person was created, whether allien related or not.
One night in Hinamizawa there was a deadly volcanic ash that rose into the air; killing everyone in the town. The place was deaned unlivable, and to those who lived thought it was Oyashiro's curse trying to silence them all. Whatever the case may be, the town is considered not normal, and its inhabitance keep getting stuck in the same month in 1983.


If you're looking for a scary, mind screwing story; look for "When they cry" in your local bookstore or entertainment store. You will be left shivering in your seat with every twisted chapter/ arc this series has to offer. [Warning this series is rated MA. Viewer discretion advised.]
