Samantha Chapman and the Dawn of the Black Rose, Chapter: 3
"Okay, Sam, checklist." Taylor announced as they all did last minuet prep for Bitten. "Wand?"
Samantha swished her wand in the air. "Yep," she replied. "Books, gloves, boots, robes, clothes, paper, pencils...Is that all?"

Taylor and Jake looked from their list on the clipboard, to Samantha's trunk.

"You forgot one thing," Jake remarked.

Samantha looked down at her trunk quietly, then back to her brother and brother-in-law.

"What?" she asked confused
"Can you go get them, love?" Taylor asked Jake sweetly

Jake nodded as as soon as he turned the corner, he reappeared with two small crystal vials filled with a thick, red liquid, blood, in his hands.

"What are those?" Samantha asked with suspicion
"Blood vials," Taylor and Jake answered at the same time.
"What for?" Samantha replied
"Emergencies," Taylor answered, slipping the crystal vials in to her trunk. "If something bad happens, something where your vampire instincts take control, the blood in those vials will keep you sane, but they're just like alcohol...Do you understand?"
"Perfectly," Samantha replied. "Why only two at small amounts?"
"It rarely ever happens," Jake answered. "Plus, you're under age to even have them and as for the purpose of emergencies."
"Right," Samantha sighed. "Human or animal?"
Taylor rolled his eyes. "Animal."

Samantha nodded

"Bus leaves soon," Jake began, examining the black leather watch on his wrist. "Wanna head out?"
"Sure." Samantha answered, giving a weak smile.

"There's something I don't get," Samantha began from the back passenger seat of the impala as they drove into the heart of Montreal. "Is this like a stone school bus?"
"Of course not!" Jake laughed as Taylor cut the impala's engine and they all got out.

Samantha felt her skin get moist with embarrassment as they stood in the wide-open circle that was the heart of the city, she thanked the vampire gods no one was out yet.

"Taylor, if you please?" Jake asked after a few minuets.

Taylor nodded, took out his wand, and pointed it out into the street. Seconds later, a large, silver, double-decker bus appeared. The bus's brakes screeched to a stop and the three of them were greeted by a short, plump vampire. Taylor smiled and felt his eyes turn purple as he looked at the stranger.

"Nice to see you again, Mr. Wright." Taylor said happily
Mr. Wright's eyes drifted to Taylor and they turned icy blue in shock. "Taylor Chapman, is that you?" he asked in amazement
"In the flesh." Taylor answered proudly
"You've grown up so much," Mr. Wright smiled.
"Uh, same to you." Taylor mumbled his reply

Mr. Wrights' skin was more gray than pale, you could tell his hair was dyed black, as it was starting to fade to a light brown, and his fangs were dull and stained with blood.

"Who's this?" Mr. Wright asked, ignoring Taylor's comment and looking down at Samantha.
"It's Sam," Taylor answered, smiling.
"Really? You're kidding!" Mr. Wright exclaimed happily. "I remember when you were only two years old...You were so little...You look so much like your brother."
"No need to rub it in, sir..." Samantha mumbled, then looked up at Taylor and smiled. "It's not something I'm truly proud of."

Taylor stuck his tongue out at his sister. She giggled like a little girl and Mr. Wright chuckled under his breath.

"Please, call me Shane." Mr. Wright said with a small chuckle.

Samantha nodded and gave a weak smile. Shane loaded Samantha trunk into the storage area in the bottom of the bus and took his position in the drivers' seat. Samantha turned to her brother. He opened his arms and she got on top of his feet as they wrapped each other in a tight embrace.

"Are you ready for this, Sam?" Taylor asked softly into her ear while he rubbed her back and stroked her hair.
"Are you ready is the question..." Samantha replied, looking up at her brother.
Taylor exhaled deeply. "Yes," he nodded.

Samantha turned to her brother-in-law, still holding onto her brother and resting her head on his chest.

"Jake?" she asked softly
"Yeah," he sighed softly. "Good luck, Sammy."
"Don't call me Sammy..." she seethed through her fangs, "but, thanks."

Samantha turned and looked up at Taylor. They looked at each other like they did in Hawthorne Pass. Taylor brought Samantha close to his body and it seemed he'd never let her go. Samantha nuzzled her face into Taylor's black pin-stripped shirt. Bloody tears, vampire tears streamed down their faces as Taylor inhaled the scent of Samantha's rose and wine scented hair and Samantha poked her fangs slightly into the base of her brother's neck.

Taylor bent down and did the same as he held her face delicately. They both looked at each other as their eyes both burned gold. Taylor lifted his sister so she was standing on her toes and pressed his lips to hers. After a few minuets, Taylor released the grasp he had on her and they looked at each other intently. Tears continued to stream down the both of their pale cheeks. They licked the others' blood off of the others' faces and pressed their lips together.

"Do they do this a lot?" Shane whispered to Jake
Jake nodded solemnly and sighed his soft answer, "yep."

Samantha and Taylor finally let each other go and they both sighed softly.

"It'll be okay." Taylor whispered in her ear

Samantha nodded, her eyes turned to some mixture of red and silver as she looked up at her brother with frightened and scared eyes. Taylor grabbed his sister's shoulders and pulled her close. Samantha rested her head on his chest and her rubbed her back again.

"It'll be okay." he whispered in her hair and placing a kiss on the top of her head. "Now, go."

Samantha placed a kiss on her brother's neck, a kiss on her brother-in-law's cheek, and finally got on the bus. Shane closed the door and began to drive. Taylor, Samantha, and Jake began to wave at each other frantically and Taylor ran along-side the bus, not losing his sister's eyes. He only stopped when the bus turned the corner and drove out of sight. Jake soon caught up with him and Taylor broke down in tears.

"Sh..." Jake whispered, holding Taylor tightly
"Do you think she's really ready?" Taylor choked
"If she's anything like you or your father was, she'll be just fine." Jake answered smiling
"I hope you're right," Taylor whispered, looking at him

Blood continued to go down Taylor's face and Jake rubbed his tears away with his thumbs. They got back into the impala and drove back to the mansion.

Samantha sat silently in her compartment, looking out the widow, watching the scenery flash by, and more students board the bus. Chatter soon filled the huge bus, but Samantha kept quiet. She watched her skin sparkle as the sun came out. She was so transfixed in her skin that she didn't notice someone standing in the doorway. When she turned her head, her eyes flashed an icy blue and she jumped.

"D-do you mind?" the stranger, a boy asked softly. "Everywhere else is full."
"No, go ahead." Samantha replied smiling

Samantha watched as the boy walked into the compartment. He was tall and pale skinned, his eyes were silver and calm, but Samantha saw the muscles in his neck tense as he walked. He had messy way, dark brown hair that touched the tops of his ears, a narrow figure, and think, black-rimmed glasses. He sat down and held out a hand.

"Ryan Thompson." he stated
"Samantha Chapman." Samantha replied

Ryan's eyes turned dark blue and widened.

Samantha looked at him confused. "What, something wrong?"
"No, nothing, just...You're the one who escaped Lucifer without a scratch." Ryan answered, gasping slightly.
"Well, if you think about it, no. He didn't hurt me physically, but, he hurt me emotionally. Lucifer murdered my father."
Ryan nodded in understand meant. "I'm sorry." he mumbled
"No, don't worry about it. How would you know if I never told you?"
"Yeah," Ryan replied softly.
"So...Now, I live with my brother and brother-in-law, Taylor and Jake." Samantha added

Ryan smiled and chuckled under his breath.

"I love them to death, don't get me wrong." Samantha giggled

Ryan burst out laughing and after a few seconds, Samantha joined him.

"What's your family like?" Samantha asked after she and Ryan stopped laughing.
"My mom's a Pure-Blood vampire and my dad was a half-blood, more magic than vampire. When I was five, my mom's instincts kicked in and she killed him. So, I live with her."
"May I ask something?" Samantha asked
"Sure," Ryan replied. "What's on your mind, Sammy?"

Samantha growled off being called Sammy. Ryan looked at her and nodded in understand meant.

"Sorry..." he mumbled
"Don't worry about it." she sighed "Are you more like your mom or dad?"
"My family on my mom's side all say I'm more like her. Well, of course they'd say that, they're all full-fledged vampires...So, that doesn't really help. Still, everyone on my father's side say I'm more like him. What do you think?"
"Let me see your eyes." Samantha replied softly

Ryan gave her a confused looked, but her got up and strode to her side. He sat down next to Samantha and she stared at him intently, her eyes a glossy opal white. After a few minuets, Samantha gave a shuddering gasp.

"What's wrong?" Ryan asked nervously
"It's your eyes, Ryan." Samantha whispered "They showed terrible emotions...Was it because of your mom?"

Samantha struck a nerve. Tears began to form instantly in Ryan's eyes and they fell just as they began. Ryan let Samantha see him cry.

"Yes," he whispered, looking away from her.
"Please," she whispered back softly.

Ryan looked at her and took a hard breath.

"Okay," he breathed. "Mom and dad, the both thought I was asleep. Well, I was at first, but as usual, they began to fight. I tried to block it out, but doing that never actually worked. So, I opened my door and sat at the top of the stairs, listening. What they were fighting about was always the same thing, whether or not to turn me full vampire.
"That night, my mom got her wish. In the middle of her words, her eyes turned black and her vampire instincts kicked in. She screamed, I couldn't tell if it was anger or pain, but in the next second, she had him pinned to the wall. She licked his neck, bit into him, and watched him bleed to death. Surprisingly, neither him or I screamed.
"His eyes just widened and his limp body slide down the wall. I started to breath quickly, I covered my mouth, but it was too late, she heard me. I got up and ran to my room. She ran up the stairs and kicked down my locked door. She restrained me to the floor by holding my legs down and she bit into my wrist. She said, 'Your true instincts will kick in, just like mine'. So, I'm a Pure-Blood vampire."
"Me too," Samantha replied plainly. "How much longer?"
Ryan looked down at the watch on his wrist. "From here, about two hours."
"Sweet," Samantha replied happily, smiling at Ryan.

Ryan smiled back at her and a laugh slipped through his lips. Samantha could tell this friendship would last forever. Ryan put an arm around her shoulders and she fell asleep on his shoulder. Ryan sat next to her, watching the sun reflect off her skin. After an hour or so, Samantha opened her eyes, revealing a clear, liquid topaz. Ryan continued to look down at her and he smiled sweetly.

"Are we there yet?" Samantha asked in a soft whisper.
"Not yet, love." he whispered back, just as softly. "I'll wake you up when we get there, 'kay?"
"Okay," Samantha replied, nuzzling her face into Ryan's shoulder and falling asleep again instantly.

After twenty minuets later, Samantha felt her body shaking rapidly. She opened her eyes to Ryan's smiling face.

"We're here-

He stopped himself and his smile disappeared when he saw Samantha's eyes. They were red, deep red, bloody red.

"What's wrong, Sammy?" he asked nervously "Were you crying in your sleep?"
"Yeah, Had a nightmare." Samantha answered through her fangs at being called Sammy. "Don't call me that..."
"Sorry, I forgot..." Ryan replied calmly. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, don't worry. Caleb saved me."
"Caleb?" Ryan asked as he slipped on his black Bitten robes.
"My guardian angel," Samantha replied, doing the same. "He's my best friend and he's been with me the day I was born."

Ryan nodded in understand meant as they both slipped their wands into the inside pocket of their robes. They looked at each other and sighed excitedly. Together, they got off the bus and stepped onto the bus platform.

"First years! Over here!" called a soft, but loud voice.

Ryan took Samantha by the wrist and they walked towards the voice. Both of their eyes turned red as they realized who they were looking up at, Miles Ellis, the headmaster. Professor Ellis saw their frightened eyes and he smiled. His amethyst eyes twinkled from the light of the silver moon and the golden fireflies.

"There's nothing to be afraid of." he said soothingly

Samantha and Ryan modded. Samantha's eyes turned back to carmel, Ryan's back to a soft green with brown speckles, they were calm. Professor Ellis was tall and quite young for his age, When he smiled, his fangs were stained, but they were still sharp. Samantha examined the rest of him, curly raven black hair that just barely covered the tops of his hears, pale skin, and he was very thin. The over-all appearance was memorising

"Is that the school, Professor?" Samantha asked, looking past him and looking at the huge two hundred feet high, castle-like building across a large lake.
"Yes, Ms. Chapman, it is." Professor Ellis answered looking down at the watch on his wrist. "It's almost time..."

Professor Ellis looked at both Samantha and Ryan. He gave a sharp wink and disappeared right before their eyes. Samantha and Ryan's eyes both turned to an icy blue as they looked at each other. There was a cobblestone path that wound through a pine forest and led up to the school. On the path, there were black carraiges pulled by a black stallion and a black pegasus.

Samantha and Ryan climbed into one and it instantly move. Samantha looked through the black curtains that covered the window, up at the school. The castle-like school was huge and most of it was glass, barely any of it had stone, and all the rooms were lite. Only after the carraige stopped and Ryan opened the door, letting Samantha take her first steps on Bitten's grounds, she felt safe away from Taylor, Jake, and Caleb. Samantha felt the atmosphere change and the air smelled and tasted like blood as she inhaled.

Then, from out of nowhere, someone appeared just like Professor Ellis disappeared.

"May I have your attention, students?" the stranger asked

Samantha looked around. She didn't even notice all the other people.

"Hm..." she mumbled, going into thought
"What?" Ryan asked, looking at her
"All the others," she began. "Are they like us?"
"Not all of them," Ryan replied, closing his eyes. "Some are Full-Fledged, half-blooded, and everything else in between."
"What do you mean?" Samantha asked
"There are full vampires, half vampires, half stones, half sorcerers...Get it?"
"Yeah, but, how do you know?"
"It's a special talent," Ryan answered. "Only full-fledged vampires have them."
"What about half-bloods?"
"Not that I know of."
"Interesting..." she mumbled softly

Both of their eyes turned purple as they looked and smiled at each other.

"First years!" barked the same person, a young, tall, male, short- brown haired vampire.

Samantha and Ryan both turned and looked at him. His eyes were opal and when he smiled, his teeth were white but his fangs were stained and dull. His smiled quickly disappeared and his face became stern. Ryan and Samantha exchanged worried looks, as if to say: This isn't a person to cross.

"I'm Professor Polzin."

Professor Polsin opened the great ebony wooden doors wide. The entrance hall was so big, that you could fit the mansion in it three times and it wouldn't even come close. Torches were lite with black flame, but they were as bright as orange fire. The ceiling was made of glass and was so high it was hard to see. The few stone walls had golden, red, green, and black sparkles on them, the granite tile floor was brightly polished and there was a magnificent marble staircase that lead to the upper floors of the school.

Both Ryan and Samantha were awestruck. They, and everyone else followed Professor Polzin across the glass-like floor. As they walked past a set of ebony wooden doors, Samantha heard the drone of hundreds, maybe even millions of other voices. Professor Polzin led then up a small flight of stairs, his black robes moved like flowing water behind him as he walked. Then. all of a sudden, he stopped.

"Welcome to Pierce Veil Academy." Professor Polzin announced, his voice echoed through the corridor. "The Start-of-term feast will begin shortly, but before you can take your seats in the cafeteria, you must be sorted into your house. Your house will be like your family with in Bitten. You will have classes with your house, sleep in your own room, or if you may share if you wish, and spend most of your free-time in your houses' common room. The four houses are: Lillyum Lerfald; Golden-Claw, Morfin Marvolo; Full-Fledged, Vladimir Vane; Dark-Fire, and Ginerva Gorow; Red-Thorn. Each house has it's own unique history and each has produced outstanding vampires.
"While you are here, each individual will earn your house points, the same applies for rule breaking. Which ever house has the most points at the end of the year will be awarded a small celebration. I hope each of you will credit which ever house becomes yours. The sorting ceremony will take place in a few minuets in front of the rest of the school. I shall return for you when everything's ready."

Professor Polzin left the corridor silently. Golden fireflies soon filled the area and chatter errupted.

"So, it's true then...What everyone was saying on the bus." said a tall, anorexic bodied, soft gray eyes, dark brown- almost black haired, immensely gorgeous, pale skinned vampire. "Samantha Chapman's come to Pierce Veil..."

The chatter died instantly. Samantha felt her whole body go paler and paler as other gasped and whispered her name.

"I'm VanAlystne," the boy began, walking over to Samantha and Ryan, stopping to a halt in from of Samantha. "Austin VanAlystne."

Someone in the back round snickered at Austin's name. Her friend elbowed her in the ribs, laughing a bit herself. Austin's head shot over at them, his eyes glowed green as he glared at the two girls.

"You think my name's funny, do you?" he snapped at them.

The two girls quickly shook their heads and looked down at the floor. Samantha and Ryan looked at each other. Austin turned back to them, his gray eyes flickered to Ryan.

"You must be Ryan Thompson." Tanner said, smiling his true smile at him

Ryan's eyes turned icy blue as he looked at Austin. His eyes seemed to say: how do you know my name? Then he looked down at the floor, trying to hide his blushing golden-brown eyes.

"You'll soon find out some vampires think they're better than other...strutting about the place as if they own it." Tanner stated, turning back to Samantha and holding out his hand.

Samantha's eyes turned lavender as she smiled and grabbed Austin's hand. She suddenly gave a small gasp. When their skin touched, it felt like a fire was surrounding her. Both her's and Austin's eyes turned to a wanting, desiring, angst filled gold. The whole corridor seemed to dissolve and they were the only two people there.

"Y-you do this a lot?" she whispered, smiling at him with a dirty smirk

Austin smiled back at her, revealing to Samantha his sharp pure white fangs. They dropped the others' hand as if they read each others' mind. Austin brought his soft his dark-pink lips to her ear.

"I'll be waiting," he whispered, his icy breath sliding on to her neck.

With one final look and a nod from Samantha, he glided gracefully back to where he was standing before.

"What was that all about?" Ryan asked softly, watching Austin leave.
"What do you mean?" Samantha asked, clearly out of reality.
"You're eyes, Sam...they're gold. You're in love, aren't you?"

Samantha's skin fell pale like before and the muscles in her neck tightened up.

"Of course not!" she exclaimed, her eyes flickered to a lying hazel

Everyone's eyes, including Austin's, averted to them.

"Show's over!" Ryan shouted

Samantha heard Austin chuckle under his breath. She sighed and her eyes bled to an embarrassed red. She looked at Ryan/

"Do you or don't you?" he asked
Samantha shrugged. "I guess..." she mumbled and gave a teasing smile.

Ryan smiled back and looked over at Austin. Austin smiled at him and Ryan shot his eyes away. He tried to settle his eyes on Samantha, but it didn't work. His eyes kept drifting over to the beautiful vampire, almost like his eyes were caught in a magnetic pull. Ryan's eyes burned gold with such an intensity, Ryan thought his eyes would melt out of their sockets.

Samantha met Austin's still golden eyes and they smiled at each other. Samantha had never been truly this happy before. Except for the time Taylor truly kissed her, when Taylor and Jake got married, and when she realized she was truly in love with Caleb. All those moments in her life didn't come close to what she was feeling right now. Ryan kept his eyes transfixed on the doors, trying to resist the urge to stare at Austin.

Ryan put his thoughts on to what was on the other side of the the ebony doors, knowing that the second Professor Polzin came back, he'd be lead to his doom. Samantha and Austin snuck glances at each other every few seconds. Every time,Austin moved an inch closer to her. He moved until he was right at her side, holding her wrist that bared the crescent burn mark.

"Move along now," barked Professor Polzin's sharp voice. "Form a line behind me."

Feeling oddly, as if her legs had turned to cement, Samantha got in line behind Ryan, Austin behind her. Professor Polzin opened the ebony doors and lead everyone down another small stone corridor, leading to a pair of glass double-doors. The doors looked as though they were covered in a small sheet of ice and encased in black iron bars. The double-doors opened at the time they all approached and they walked into the cafeteria. Samantha never imagined such a strange, but wonderful, beautiful place.

The room was lie by thousands of black flame torches that were floating in mid-air over four extremely long tables where the other Pierce Veil Academy students were sitting. The mahogany long tables were laid with glittering golden plates and crystal glasses. Fireflies flew silently everywhere. Only one wall was made of stone, all the other walls were glass. At the top of the room is where all the teachers sat, with Professor Polzin's exception. Professor Polzin lead the first year students up to the from of the hall and then, they came to a stop.

They turned around so they faced the other students and their backs faced the teachers. The hundreds of pale faces staring up at them looked like pale lanters without a light against the glowing black fire. Samantha felt the muscles in her neck tense up. She releaved the tension by looking up at the ceiling. When she did, her eyes sparkled maroon with intrest as she looked up at the black, stared, cloudy sky. It was hard to believe there was a ceiling there at all, the cafeteria didn't exactly open to the heavens.

Samantha looked down quickly as Professor Polzin silently placed a wooden three-legged stoll in front of them.

"When I call your name, you will sit down, and your eyes will change color. Then, you shall be you will be sorted into your houses...Please do not force your eyes to change." Professor Polzin instructed, as his eyes flickered to every first years' face.
"That's it," Ryan whispered to Samantha. "I can do that in my sleep!"

Samantha smiled weakly. Having her eyes change was much better than what she had in mind. Professor Polzin took out a large peice of see-through ivory paper and began to read off names.

"Alexander Michael." he announced

A short vampire with long flaming red hair and odd freckles on his pale face and red eyes of nervousness walked up to the sstool. Professor Polzin assured him everything would be okay and told Alexander to relax. After a bit, his eyes started to change. First to gold, then to amythist, then a gleaming bleeding red, then a dark angered green. After a few seconds, Alexander's eyes changed to anythist and stayed.

"Dark-Fire!" Professor Polzin shouted

The table on the far left, the Dark-Fire table, errupted in cheers and applause. Alexander scurrie quickly over to the Dark-Fire table and sat down. The whole room went silent.

"Hannah Aldman."

A tall girl with dark skin a pixie-like black hair danced over to the stool. Her eyes danced with gold and amythist. Soon after, her eyes turned gold and remained Professor Polzin had to wait, just to be sure.

"Golden-Claw!"

Hannah aldman became the first Golden-Claw of the year. As soon as she sat down, the room went silent once again.

"Austin VanAlystne."

Austin squeezed Samantha's wrist lightly and he took his spot at the stool. Not even a second passed before Austin sat on the stool and his eyes glowed an intense dark emerald. He sneered.

"Full-Fledged!" Professor Polzin announced, smiling brightly.

Austin got up from the stool and strode away gracefully to the table on the far right.

"Lilly Brown."

A sandy brown haired girl with peach skin walked over to the stool. Her eyes bleed to a bloody crimson.

"Red-Thorn!" Professor Polzin cried

Lilly shuffled over to the Red-Thorn table.

"Ryan Thompson."

Ryan shot a glance at Samantha. She smiled at him with eager eyes. He looked down at Tanner and his eyes trembled with and obvious gold. He sighed softly and drifted to the stool. Ryan eye's fluttered and drifted back and forth from emerald and gold. After a few minuets, his eyes oozed to dark green.

Ryan glided over to the Full-Fledged table and sat across from Austin. He and Ryan exchanged lookes. Austin looked away soon after but Ryan continued to look at him.

"Sterling Chapman."

Samantha's breath became short. Sterling looked over at Samantha, meeting her icy blue eyes. Samantha's eyes widened, he looked just like her. Same golden brown hair, same cold, pale complexion, the same tall, anorexic figure, and the same carmel eyes with dark circles underneath them, just like hers. Sterling smiled at her, showing his true smile of pure white and sharp fangs. They broke their connection and Stelring strode over to the stool and sat down. His carmel eyes turned green instantly. He made a happy, evil smirk as he stood up. Sterling glided swiftly, but just as gracefully over to the Full-Fledged table.

"Ruby Brown"

Golden-Claw.

Austin whispered to Ryan at the table that she and the girl named Lilly were sisters. Ryan nodded in agreement. Samantha looked at who was left, six people, counting herself.

"It'll be your turn soon, Sammy." Caled whispered "Don't worry."

Samantha nodded and closed her eyes for a few seconds.

"Alice Johnson."

Full-Fledged.

"Connor Braselton."

Red-Thorn.

"Kelly Thomas."

Dark-Fire.

"Isabella Peters."

Full-Fledged.

"Sarah James."

Golden-Claw.

"Iriana Ford"

Red-Thorn.

"Samantha Chapman."

The whole room went silent. Almost too silent. Like no one was breathing. Samantha felt her body flush. She couldn't move, as if she were frozen to the spot.

"Sam..." Austin and Ryan whispered at the same time.
"Samantha Chapman." Professor Polzin called once more.

Samantha didn't move and inch. Everyone began to look around and whisper.

"I'm right here my love." Caleb whispered as he held her lightly.

Samantha closed her eyes, sighed, and nodded. She then took her first steps towards the stool. As she sat down, she felt Caleb's soft arms around her and her eyes began to change instantly. They changed so sharply and shuttered so fast, is was like she was hacing a seizer within her eyes. They fluttered beautifuly and seamlessly though the four colors, even white.

All the other students began to gasp and point. Samantha flickered her eyes over to Austin. He was staring at her in amazement. She gave him a confused look and Austin looked away instantly. Caleb tightened his hold on Samantha as he pulled her hair behind one of her ears and kissed her neck. Samantha sighed heavenly and her eyes finally began to slow down.

They passed from Full-Fledged, to Golden-Claw, to Dark-Fire, then to Red-Thorn, and back again. After mindless minuets, her eyes stopped. Samantha's face lite up brightly as she felt where her eyes landed.

"Congratulations my sweet love." Caleb whispered just before Professor Polzin shouted Full-Fledged.

The whole room blasted with screams. Most of the screams came from the Full-Fledged table and the loudest of screas came from Austin and Ryan. Samantha ran over to the Full-Fleged table and shook hands with all the people around her. Ryan wrapped his arms around Samantha in a tight, happy hug. They looked at each other and their eyes turned lavender.

"Well, isn't this interesting?" Austin asked from behind Samantha's back.

Ryan's normal 'Austin lovestruck smile' faded instantly. He turned Samantha around in his arms so they both faced Austin. He kept a soft, firm hold on her shoulders. Despite Ryan's hold on her, Samantha turned and looked at him. She could just make out his gray saddened eyes beneath the brown hair that partly covered them.

Samantha gave him a confused, almost disappointed look as her eyes turned to a bluish gray. He leaned down slightly so they were face-to-face. Samantha's eyes widened. Instead of seeing Ryan's face, she saw Caleb's.

"I'm not a child." she whispered softly "Austin's special to me...give him more credit please."

"I saw the way he was looking at you, Sammy." Caleb accused softly "I know how he feels about you. I just don't want him to hurt you."

( I know someday down the road he will hurt you and I don't want him to take you away from me.)

Caleb whispered 'I love you' in her ear softly. His soft icy breath made her shiver as her breathed down her neck.

"Don't worry, he'd never hurt me." Samantha whispered softly
Caleb nodded. "I'm just trying to keep you safe is all."

(you're mine and no one else's.)

He kissed her hair and dissolved away. Ryan dropped his hands and they both turned to Austin. He had eyes of hurt and confusion as he looked at Ryan and Samantha. They both gave fake, but believable smiles and Austin smiled back.

"Full-Fledged!" called a voice from the entrance of the cafeteria.
"I guess that's us." Austin sighed

Ryan and Samantha nodded in agreement. Together, they walked out of the cafeteria.

XXXXXXXXXX

"Come on now, quickly, keep up!"

Samantha kept silent as they walked through the many corridors of the school. It seemed like a giant maze but she kept in sync with Austin and Ryan and Caleb gently floating inivisbly above her. They descended multipule flights of stairs and once they made it to the dungeons, the walls were no longer made of glass but of stone. There were windows that let in the light of the moon, fireflies flew by them silently, and moving, talking pictures hung on the walls.

Ryan jumped when one of them said hello. Almost as if by instinct, he grabbed Austin's wrist. Austin looked over at him with slightly shocked, unnoticed, liquid topaz eyes. When Austin looked away Ryan looked at with with a look of innonce, but Austin didn't see. They took a few more steps and came to a halt in front of a blank brick wall.

Samantha looked at Austin just as Ryan dropped his wrist, and Austin's eyes turned back to normal. He looked over at her and smiled, showing his fangs. Samantha smiled back in the same way. The moonlight made his skin look pure white and his golden eyes shimmer. Samantha felt herelf blush and she heard him giggle under his breath.

"Are you ready?" Samantha whispered
"I guess," Austin whispered back.
"Mhm..." Ryan mumbled "You?"
"As I'll ever be." Samantha sighed, then looked at the silver light that was Caleb.

The silver light snuggled close and tickled her neck. Samantha giggled softly and pecked the light before it dissolved away.

"Pure-Blood!" the prefect announced to the wall, and the stones began to move.

As soon as the wall was open, the prefect led the Full-Fledged students into the common room. As everyone entered the common room everyone was in awe. Glass and black stone walls, fake waterfalls streaming down the stone walls, black and green flame touches, a chandilier made out of white willow, black leather couches and chairs, emerald green rugs, a black stone fire place, and the air smelled of roses. If you looked through the glass walls, you could overlook a large black lake, lake Clarytius.

"Welcome to the Full-Fledged common room. The boys' dorms are on your right, girls, same on your left. You shall find that your belongings have already been brought up and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. My name is Evans VanAlystne."
Ryan turned to Austin. "Older brother?"
Austin nodded. "Sadly," he teased.

Evans walked over and pulled Austin away from Samantha and Ryan. They began to talk amongst themselves on the other side of the room.

"Cute, isn't he?" Ryan asked softly
"Austin of Evans?" Samantha replied
"Both..." Ryan blushed
"Yeah," Samantha agreed.

Samantha closed her eyes softly. She felt Caleb come up from behind her.

"Scare you, Sammy?" he teased
"'Course not." she replied smiling "I heard you coming anyway..."

Caleb smiled and kissed her cheek. He grabbed her hands and softly breathed his icy breath onto her neck. Samantha shivered softly and giggled.

Ryan looked at her. "It's not cold in here," he began. "Why'd you shiver?"
"It's a relfex." Samantha gasped as Caleb kissed the crook between her neck and shoulder.
"Sam?" Ryan asked with suspicion, "is Caleb here?"

Samantha nodded slowly and Caleb let her hands go.

"Later?" Caleb asked eagerly
"Of course." Samantha whispered and Caleb dissolved into thin-air.
"Wait," Ryan began. "I thought only angels could come to reality if they're truly needed? Like, if you're in a bad situation and you need help."
"Well, it's not really him, more like a ghost version, an imaginary version...but, lately, I've been thinking about him and he comes...ghost form though..." Samantha replied "Like I need him here permanently."

Ryan nodded and dropped the subject. They both turned and looked at Evans and Austin. Evans was just an older version of Austin, just a bit taller, Austin's eyes were more innocent and child-like, and Evans's dark brown hair compleatly covered his eyes when he had his head bowed. It was impossible to tell what the two of them were talking about, at the fast rate their lips were moving it was like they were speaking french. Seconds later, Austin and Evans nodded. With a smirk to his brother, Evans walked out of the common room and Austin walked back to Samantha and Ryan.

"What was that all about?" Ryan asked
"It's nothing..." Austin mumbled

Samantha looked at the black leather watch on her wrist.

"It's getting late," she began. "Gonna go call Taylor and Jake."
"It's only your first day, Sam." Ryan replied
"I just want to tell them what house I'm in..." she said innocently
"Alright, we'll be waiting." Austin smiled as Samantha climbed up the spiral staircase to her dorm.
"I'll come back when I'm done." Samantha promised when she got to the second floor landing.

Both Ryan and Austin nodded. When Samantha was safely out of sight, Ryan turned to Austin.

"Austin, let's get one thing straight." Ryan seethed, speaking Caleb's thoughts.

They stared at each other akwardly. Ryan sighed contently and the muscles in his neck flexed.

"Don't you dare hurt her." Ryan growled, his voice hightened and sounded just like Caleb's.
"Oh, don't worry," Austin teased, flopping down on one of the couches. "I won't hurt her."
"You better mean that..." Ryan mumbled, "I know you care for her as much as I do."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Austin asked with suspicion.
"I'm saying, we're both going to keep her safe...because we both love her."
Ryan answered
"Well, I do meant it...So just calm down. Okay?"
"Okay, I believe you." Ryan mumbled, a little annoyed.

They looked at each other and smiled.

XXXXXXXXXX

Samantha smiled as Caleb walked with her into her dorm room. He grabbed her wrist and spun her around on her toes. Samantha giggled happily and Caleb let her go. Samantha was happy to be at Pierce Veil. At Pierce Veil, she could be herself, she is no longer confined. She glided over to her bed, laid down, and sighed happily. Caleb stood over her and snickered. Samantha opened her eyes and looked up at him

"What?" she giggled
"Nothing, my love." Caleb answered sweetly, laying down next to her. "You just seem so happy. I've never really seen you this way before. It's beautiful."

Samantha smiled and rolled her amber eyes. Caleb snickered and stroked her hand with his thumb. After a few minuets, Samantha flipped open her cell phone and called the mansion. It rang three times, then Taylor answered.

"Hello?" his voice grumbled on the other side.
"Taylor?" Samantha asked, "did I wake you up?"
Taylor's voice quickly hightened. "No, of course not, Sammy. Jake and I've been up for a while..."

Samantha and Caleb exchanged a soft giggle.

"The first day I'm out?" she accused teasingly
"Mhm," Taylor answered.
"Gosh, you're selfish."
"Yep," there was laughter in his voice. "So, how's school even though it's you're first day? What house you in?"
"It's fine I guess..." Samantha sighed, smiling at Caleb. "Full-Fledged."
Taylor chuckled under his breath. "I knew it. That's the same house dad and I were in. Have you gotten any friends yet besides Caleb?"

Caleb gasped and crossed his arms. His lower lips stuck out in a pout. Samantha giggled.

"Yeah, I do," Samantha answered, laughing under her breath. "Ryan Thompson and Austin VanAlystyne."

Taylor began to fake cry, making his little sister giggle.

"Both boys?" Taylor laughed, trying to be serious.
"Yeah, don't worry though. I'm being a good girl." Samantha gave a wicked, evil laugh.
"Ha, you better be."
"Sure, sure." she mumbled, smirking at Caleb.
Taylor's tone dropped. "Seriously, Samantha."
"Woah!" she gasped, "where'd that come from?"
"I'm doing what any senseable father-figure would do."
"Well, I'm being serious. Nothing bad, promise." she said proudly, winking as Caleb.
"That's my good girl," Taylor whispered happily. "Have you met Sterling yet?" he asked, getting his normal tone back. "Were Jake and I right, does he look like you?"
"Yeah, you were right. Me in every way." Samantha replied
"Do you wanna talk to Jake?" Taylor asked
Samantha shrugged. "Sure, why not?" she teased

They both laughed as Taylor handed Jake the phone. Samantha and Caleb laughed under their breaths as Taylor's laughs echoed thought the back round.

"Hey, Sam," Jake said into the phone with a chuckled laugh. "Do you miss up us yet?
"Every second," Samantha sighed. "When do I get to come home?"
"Sometime in the spring or summer." Jake replied, sighing as well.
"Yeah, try nine out of the twelve." Samantha mumbled, her bottom lip stuck out in a pout as she looked over at Caleb.
"Don't worry, Sammy-Sam. You'll be just fine-

Samantha chuckled under her breath and her eyes bled gold.

"What's so funny?" Jake asked
"Only Caleb can call me Sammy-Sam."
"And Sammy." Caleb whispered in Samantha's ear.
"Right, and Sammy." she giggled "and Aphrodite and all that other stuff he calls me."
"Right... well, back to what I was saying before. If you're anything like Taylor, you'll be just fine."
"Why such high standards?" Samantha smiled "Wouldn't it make more sense to tell Sterling that?"
"Yeah, I guess you're right, but I care more about you than you're twin brother."
Samantha blushed deeply. "Thanks bro." she whispered
"Anytime, sis." Jake whispered back "Now, try and have fun alright? for me?"
"Of course, I'd do anything for you."
"That's my girl," Jake whispered softly. "I love you Sam-Sam."
Samantha giggled. "How much do you love me, Jake-Jake?"
"I love you as much as love your brother. I'd die for you in a heartbeat, Sammy."
"As would I, Jake-Jake." Samantha whispered, close to tears. "I love you...more than you think."
"Yours in eternity." Jake whispered so softly, Samantha barely heard it.
"Yours in eternity." Samantha whispered back, just as softly.
"Yours in eternity, Sam!" Samantha heard Taylor yell from what sounded like from across the room.
"Yours in eternity," Samantha whispered harshly.

Samantha heard Jake's muffled laugh as Taylor claimed him as his own and Jake pressed the end button. The line went dead. Samantha smiled, flipped her phone closed, and slipped it into her pocket. Caleb wrapped his arms around Samantha's shoulders and her eyes burned as she smiled up at him.

"I wish my eyes could change, my sweet amor." Caleb begged into Samantha's neck as he kissed it. "I want to show you my golden eyes and pledge my love to you."

Samantha looked into Caleb's icy blue eyes. He looked back at her and pushed a piece of stray hair away from her eyes. She smiled and snuggled close to him.

"There's no need," she whispered sweetly.

A bright smile spread across Caleb's face and they cuddled even closer together.

"You don't need your eyes to change to prove you love me, Caleb Davenous-Canas.

Caleb nodded and held Samantha hands' lightly. He lifted her lift hand to his lips and pressed her fingertips against them. Samantha blushed deeply when Caleb released her hand. She stood up from her bed and Caleb smiled at her. Samantha smiled back at him and they blew each other kisses before Caleb dissolved away.

Samantha sighed softly and walked back down to the common room. Austin and Ryan smiled as she glided over to them. She sat down next to Austin on one of the couches. He snuggled close to her and Samantha smiled happily.

"Everything's going to change now, isn't it?" Samantha asked, looking from Austin to Ryan with silver eyes.
"Yes," they both answered calmly/

Austin and Ryan smiled at her and three pairs if eyes turned purple.
