A Titleless Story of Love prt 1
“Eee! Jeez.” I said as the dishes crashed down to the floor. The dog had run behind me, causing me to trip. “Duke. Bed. Now.” I commanded as he strayed off to his bed with his tail between his legs. He lay there staring at me with his big brown eyes. “Now I have to pick all this up Duke. Look what you did.” I got down on one knee and began picking up the pieces when I heard a loud thud from upstairs. “Is everything okay up there?” I called out still picking up the pieces. There were mumbling and murmurs from upstairs. I stood up starting for the stairs. “Honey you okay?” I asked as I began up the stairs. “Dad, was that you wh-o…” My father was crouched over my husband’s body, pulling his knife from his neck. I let out a small yelp and stepped away from the door in dismay. My father’s head snapped towards me and he just grinned. I darted to the next room and locked the door reaching for the phone, breathing deeply.
“Ketsu, open the door, I need to speak with you.” He said through the door. I continued to sob heavily into my hand as I dialed for the police.
“This is the police station, what’s your emergency?” A woman said on the phone.
“Ketsu! Open the door!” He began to pound on the door. The woman on the phone asked if I was there and who was yelling.
I pleaded to her, “P-lease, come help me. M-my father stabbed my husband, he is dead! He is dead!” The pounding on the door ceased to fill the room with sound, everything went silent. The light from the window lit the room a pale blue. My sobs had stopped as the woman told me to stay where I was as they send the medics and police over. The sirens were heard outside of my house, pounding on the door, the shouting of the police to see if anyone was inside. I rose to my feet and stepped away from the door and opened it.
“Stay where you are!” a voice yelled at me as I stepped through the door. Everything seemed to be going in slow motion. Their movements seemed to take an eternity. My head became a cloudy mess as I sank to my knees wrapping my arms around my waist sobbing. An officer ran over to me and seized my shoulders.
“Miss, are you alright? Miss? Can you hear me?” looking up at him through tear soaked eyes, I nodded. He helped me to my feet and escorted me to a police car outside.
“Miss, it will all be alright.” he said as I sat down in the back seat of a police car. As the police officer was about to shut the door I could see them bringing out my husbands body. He was laying on a stretcher in a body bag. His face was covered and the other officers were talking to each other, motioning towards their neck. I knew they were talking about my husband. I furiously began to pound on the car door.
“That’s my husband! Let me out! Let me see my husband!” I could not open the door, the car began to pull away from the street and head in the direction of the police station. “Let me see my husband!” The driver didn’t say anything as I began to pull away from the door and tried to kick it with my feet. After my attempts to open the door became useless I curled up in the back seat covering my head and crying. He was dead, nothing could be done to save him. He was gone, for good.
A police officer named, Gil, escorted me to a questioning room. He sat me in a cold leather bound seat and asked me if I needed anything. “I’m here to help you, do you need to call anyone?” he was crouched down next to my seat with his hands on his knees.
“Yes, I want to see my husband.” I said coldly. “I want to see him now.” the officer stood and stepped over to his chair on the other side of the wooden table that was between us. He sat back in his seat as another officer brought in two bottles of water and set them on the table. The officer gave a weak smile and walked out of the room shaking his head slightly knowing the situation.
“I’m sorry Mrs. Kurenai. You cannot see your husband, but if you would like to help catch Micheal’s killer, that would be of great help.” I looked at my hands that were locked together in my lap and then I looked back up at him, fidgeting with my fingers.
“It was my father, Hugo.” I said trying not to think of the images that kept flashing through my head.
