Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Ami arrived in her uniform to the headquarters in the morning. "Good morning Mina." she said. Mina gave a smile as Ami handed her license to her. "I saw you when you at the formal. You looked nice." Ami blushed. "Thanks. I'm not used to all these compliments really." "Ah I see. But you deserve them. I have confirmed your license." She gave the card back to Ami. "It seems you'll be deployed with Prescott and Sage on Moatoob." Ami smiled a bit. "It'll be nice to work with them again. The three of us haven't been on a mission together since I became a Guardian." Mina said, "The mission will take place early tomorrow morning. So the president advises that everyone be prepared today." Ami gave a nod. There was a ding on Mina's screen. "Oh! It seems that a mission came up. By Miss Prescott. She asking for you to meet her in the medical room." Ami was confused a bit. "I wonder what she needs. Well thank you Mina." "You're welcome and may the Holy Light guide you."
"So?" said Emelia. Ami barely made it into the medical room before Emelia began asking her questions. "So...what?" Ami asked back. "The formal, how was it?" Ami backed up a bit. "Whoa whoa whoa. Hold on. First I want to thank you for the dress. Though Emil told me about it." Emelia slinked back at the mention. "Well, I didn't want to seem that I was pressuring you. I'm sorry if I offended you by not telling that I got it specifically for you." She shook her head. "That's not it at all." Ami said, "I'm grateful." Then Ami sat down. "And the formal was okay. I left early. Please don't ask why. Now, you requested me for a mission?" Emelia's eyes widened behind her glasses before she laughed. "Oh right. I have something that needs to be delievered." "Wouldn't a delivery service work better?" Ami asked. It was then Emelia suddenly became serious. "Normally yes. But it's important that a Guardian delivers it. The information in it is very classified. If it gets into the wrong hands then this information can bring the downfall to Gurhal. President Dallgun has an idea of what's in it. That's why he approved of this, normally simple, request." Emelia passed Ami a small box. "Whatever you do, don't open it." Ami looked down at the box. It looked like a plain delivery box to her. She looked closer and saw who it was addressed to. It was her father.
"Why my dad?" she asked. Emelia shook her head. "I cannot say. I'm sure Shion had a discussion with you about his disappearance." Ami stared at Emelia. "You knew where he was?" "Yes and no. I knew he left and quite possibly why, but I didn't know exactly where. Now I've probably said too much." Ami was about to ask something else but stopped. Shion was going to explain to Ami eventually why he left. Might as well wait until then. "Alright. I'll do it." Emelia gave a smile. "Thank you and know that Shion really did have a good reason for disappearing then." Ami smiled back. "I know." "Oh but before you go," she said, "have you been feeling alright since the Relics mission?" Ami gripped tightened around the box. "I want to say yes. But that wouldn't be the entire truth. It doesn't interfere when I'm on-duty. But sometimes, I'll get this passing headaches. Especially around the Seed." For a moment, Ami thought she saw Emelia give a grim look. "I see. It's probably stress. Hopefully it will be easier when the Unification Point turns out to be a success." "I hope so too Emelia."
Ami searched through her partner cards to see if she could call up someone to help her. Everyone seemed to be unavailable at the time. "Great. Well hopefully it won't be as bad." she told herself. 'Hmm, he might be back home.' She looked down at the box again and noticed that the address was a Parum address. 'Why would it be addressed in Parum?' Ami began to feel a slight headache. Like something was trying to come out. "Ugh." Just as quickly as it came, it passed. She shook her head before going to the PPT station.

Ami arrived at the address a hour later. Along the way, she faced a few native creatures. But for the most part it was quiet. 'They probably even feel that the Unification Point is near.' she thought. The place was out in the middle of the plains, maybe to hide from something. She rang on the doorbell. In a few moments, Shion answered the door. "Ami? What are you doing here? How did you know about this place?" Shion was wearing a white lab coat and glasses, different from when he was around the house. "Emelia told me to deliver you this." She handed him the package. "Emelia did? It must be the information that she said that she would find for me." "What's it about?" Ami asked. "I can't tell you yet." Shion said plainly. She frowned at her father. "You can't tell your own daughter? I know you and Emelia are hiding something together, so just out with it!" Ami's hands balled into fists as another headache came in. "I wish I could." Shion said sadly, "But I need more time. I have to be absolutely certain about my data. And it will be safe to." "Just make a request with the president. I'm sure he'll put you in protection." Shion shook his head. "I'm not worried about my protection. You and your mother is who I'm worry about. All I can say right now is that I left to protect you and her." Ami was silent. Hyuga was absolutely right. He did leave because something was after them. "I'm a Guardian now Dad, I can protect everyone. That's why I became one." Shion smiled. "I know. And I'm proud of you for doing that. Once I know for a fact that it's safe to say. Then you'll be the first person I tell." Ami put up her pinky. "Promise?" Shion laughed at the gesture. "Promise." he said, as he linked his pinky with hers, swearing it. "Well, officially your mission is over. You want to chat for a bit?" he asked. Ami nodded as she walked in the place.
The place looked to be a second home for Shion. There were a few pictures Ami recognized from back home. Like his and her mother's wedding photos and when Ami was born. Then there were a few of her from after he had left. "I had your mother send it to another address while I picked it up." he explained. Ami's eyes wandered to a picture. It was with a group of people. Ami picked it up. It was clearly taken when Shion was younger. And they all appeared to be dressed like researchers. Except for one. The male was dressed in a business suit. She inspected it closer. The male looked to be the same age as Shion in the picture. 'That face....those eyes. It couldn't be?' Ami was surprised when Shion suddenly took the picture. "It was from a long time ago." he said. "But you knew hi-" "That's enough Ami." She fell silent at the authoritative voice he had taken. "Anyway, I heard that you'll be deployed soon." he said. Ami nodded. "To Moatoob. For the Unification." She sighed a bit. "For some reason, I don't think it'll be the end of it once that happens." Then there was a breaking of the glass. "Stay here." Ami said while equipping her twin daggers.
Ami ran outside to see what caused the window to break. In front of her was a Seed-Vitace. She ran up to it and slashed at it. The Vitace perform Foie on Ami, knocking her back. It took it's tendrils to the ground and popped up near Ami, knocking her strength down. "Dammit." she muttered. Her headache came back full force. She got up and avoided the attack. Then she saw a photon bullet hit it in the head. She looked to see her father use a laser cannon on it. The Vitace screech out, breaking more windows in the process. "Dad! Get back!" she shouted. Shion stood there and shot another bullet at it. The Vitace changed to targeting Ami to targeting Shion. It released it's tendrils at Shion, knocking away the cannon. "Dad!" she shouted. Another tendril knocked Ami back into a tree, her head hitting hard against it. She saw the the Vitace hone in on Shion before everything turned black.
"It's been a long time." said a male. Shion looked to see a tall male appear alongside the Vitace. The male had tanned skin with golden yellow eyes. Across the bridge of his nose was a pale stripe, almost like a scar. He wore a long white coat with white pants and his white hair was slicked back. "Howzer, what are you doing here?" Shion asked. "Oh, I thought I would pay a visit to the pioneer of the Seedling Project before Gurhal became purified. It took us ten years to find you." He glanced over at an unconscious Ami. "So that's your daughter? She looks much more like Megami." "Shut up!" he said. Shion got out a handgun and attempted to fire, but the Vitace stood in the way like a shield. "Tsk tsk tsk." Howzer wagged his finger. "You know it's pointless at this point. I always get what I want. Though I was throughly surprised when my copy found that one of the Seedlings were alive and well." He gave a brief sigh. "I can tell that you won't help me in furthering the project. But no matter. We expanded upon it somewhat. So I can kill you." Before he could do more, a Megid came at him.
Ami heard many voices in the darkness. They were all mumbled. Then there was an intense heat in her body. 'Free me...' said a voice. Then she heard something about killing. 'I have to move. My dad....it's so hot.' The heat within her seemed to esclate. 'Free me....and I'll help you.' Then her eyes opened.
Both Howzer and Shion looked at who performed the Megid. It was Ami, or it looked like her. But her hair was silver, with the tips her known ceruelean blue and a bang was covering her right eye. Her eyes were still majority blue, but the pupil was slowly turning into a slit as well as her sky blue being overcome by golden yellow. it seemed that Ami performed Megid without any TCRM, rod, or wand. It looked like she did it with her bare hands. "So she is one after all." Howzer said. Shion looked in grimace. "It can't be." Ami ran at the Vitace with an increased speed. She extended her right hand. The nails appeared to grow into the size of daggers and she slashed at the Vitace, killing it. Ami looked at the remains of the Vitace and laughed at it's blood on her hand. Howzer looking in interest. "Hmm....interesting." Ami turned to him, ready to attack him. He extended his hand as the air seemed to wave towards her. Ami tried to shield from it, but instantly fell to the ground when it touched her. "Ami!" Shion shouted. He ran over to Ami, hugging her. "We'll meet again Shion. After all, you just confirmed it." Shion looked down at Ami. He saw her going back into her normal look right before his eyes. "What have I done?" Droplets of tears splashed upon Ami's forehead.

When Ami woke up, she noticed that she was in the medical center in Clyez. Next to her was Shion. "Great. You're awake." he said. Ami got up. "What happened?" Shion looked at her. "You don't remember anything?" She shook her head. "I remember getting knocked into a tree and that's it." Shion quickly covered his surprised look. "Some guardians came not long after and defeated the Seed." he lied, "They saw that you also ran a fever so they insisted on taking you here." Ami could vaguely remember her body feeling like it was on fire. "Oh, thanks. It's gone now so I can leave." She got up and stretched. "I'll see you soon?" Shion snapped out of his trance to answer Ami. "Yeah. Take it easy next time okay."
As Ami left, Shion continued to think about what happened. "I may have to tell her sooner." He stood up. At that moment, Emelia walked in. "I just saw Ami." she said. Shion nodded. "She is one. Though the awakening wasn't full this time." Emelia looked down. "I see. I would never think that the company would inject it in the womb." Shion's fist tighened until the knuckles turned white. He changed his glasses to shades, to cover his eyes. "I know. Emelia, we'll have to tell Dallgun everything now. Howzer already knows that there are survivors of the project." Emelia gasped at hearing Howzer's name. She had only heard of him, from her old mentor. "Are you sure?" "Yes, he personally came. We need to tell Dallgun, our lives depend on it now." Emelia nodded. "Alright. But did you look at the information? It seems that the company are still running experiments like the Seedling project." Shion wasn't surprised. "The world, it's going down a startling path."
