My Sister's Keeper CONTAINS SPOILERS
So I was watching that movie with my mom (surprise surprise eh? Dont worry it didnt last much longer then that movie.). And that movie is so immoral its not even funny. They had two children and the girl, Kate, develops cancer...Lukemia I believe. And the parents decide to have another baby based on a doctors suggestion.A perfect genetic donor, exact gene sequence they need to save their daughter. The only thing is, the dying girl wanted to die. She wanted to stop killing her family. As she feels she is doing. She's ready to die because her first love died. Its pretty sad I guess. Not nearly as sad the fact that the parents were using Anna (the donor child) to keep Kate alive. From birth to at least 11.
Kate decides to let Anna keep her kidneys and set her free. However, the mother doesnt agree with said choice. She feels that Kate is top priority and the rest of the family comes second. Putting strain on her marriage and family relationships.
Now on to my moral issue:
As a parent do you allow your child to be used as a donor baby for the sole purpose of keeping someone who is already going to die with their "spare" parts because of the sole purpose of that child being sick? Or do you act like nothings wrong the sick daughter and let the donor child live life as s/he wants? Do you deny the two people the basic freedoms and force them to conform to your ideas of normal since you feel compelled to control everything?
Okay I think I ranted about this movie enough for now....Maybe....
