Hisoka
"Having pity, puppet master? That's unlike you." A tall Legionnare walked over to the man standing infront of an unconscious boy.
"Fate has a different role for him," Hisoka replied quietly, not moving.
"Fate? That's your pitiful excuse for going soft?"
The Lunarian's expression darkened. "How about I have you gutted for insubbordination, Michio?" His voice developed a cold, sharp tone that caused the Legionnare to take a step back. "Whether you agree with my views or not is irrelevant. I am one of your superiors, and you will follow my orders. I'm already upset enough that you killed the priest. I may still have you beheaded for that. Are we clear?"
"Yes, captain," Michio grumbled.

Hisoka accepted his cape from one of his soldiers, draping it over his shoulders. He scanned the street around them, refusing to feel guilty at the sight of the brightly clothed bodies around him. The Legion captain turned to face his men. "Move out. Our mission is done here." After the others had left, he began to move forward. However, he paused when he heard a faint, meek voice behind him.
"Hisoka..."

...

He walked over and knelt by him. "You can't come with me. Stay here." The expression on Kabul's face was so innocent and confused. It was heartwrenching...

But he would not budge. Kabul could not come with him.
"Why, Hisoka? Why...?"
"I work for the Legion, Kabul. You wouldn't like it there," he said gently. "That symbol you don't like... is that of the Emperor. The Legion flag." Hisoka got up. "You'll be alright."
"You can't stay?"
"No." A captain couldn't just abandon his post...
"Take me with you." Before Hisoka could open his mouth to argue, the boy was continuing. "I don't care about the flags! I want to go with you!"

"Kabul..." The captain's fist slammed into Kabul's midsection, knocking the wind out of the boy--again. "I'm sorry." Slipping something into the boy's hands, he continued. "You must find someone else to follow now."
Hisoka forced himself to turn and walk away. He hesitated when he heard the quiet voice behind him again.
"Don't leave me... I don't wanna be alone..."
'I'm sorry...' Hisoka forced himself to keep walking, refusing to look back. This was where their paths diverged... whether those paths crossed again, only the Goddess knew.
