The moon was illuminating the sky as if warming the sky with it's beauty. I stared at it with glazed eyes, due to lack of sleep, and the moon captivated me. I didn't, couldn't move from it's sight, somehow this made the glistening moon appear as a silent guardian. Ha...even now, the ironic words only bring pain. It never protected me, only promised protection to comfort me and nothing more. Too bad...
I'm strolling through the park with the moon by my side, encouraging me to move forward, while waiting for my girlfriend to show up. She had requested, with much willpower, that I meet her in the park at midnight on the night of a full moon. It took her a long time to convince me to participate, it should've taken longer. Even though the moon was watching me, I still fidget constantly and kick random pebbles every now and then to relieve boredom or fear.
Then i hear a rustling in the bushes not far off from where I stood. My ears perk, "It's nothing, just a squirrel, right?". I glance from side to side and notice a bushy tail scamper off deeper into the park. I exhale a sigh of relief. First a snap of twig...then heavy breathing..."Um...last i checked, bears aren't allowed in the park...Maybe it's just a stray, starved cat. " I quicken my pace, almost running speed, and start heading toward the park gate.
What stops me in my tracks isn't the low growling from behind causing me to jolt but instead the menacing, piercing yellow eyes that await me as i turn to face the beast. The beast's fur shined in the moonlight while traces of something dark dripped out of its mouth, i dared not think about it too much. Telling from its crouched position, it wanted to strike it's prey, me, and fast. I froze up with just the beast's eyes glaring at me; i knew then that running was no longer an option.
