Everything smelled of disinfectant. The walls and floors, every surface, had been wiped clean time and time again. Nothing could happen. Not this time, he wouldn't be able to handle another failure.
He held his breath as he lifted the small figure out of the liquid which had been keeping it safe. She was so light, he thought to himself, even after he had retrieved her from the warm tank. Carefully, he carried her to the table in the center of the room and layed her down, placing her dripping wet head on a soft pillow.
Without hesitation, he began the task of activating her.
Several hours later, dripping from his nervous sweat, the scientist looked down at the figure. Her chest rose and fell slowly. Smiling, he reached over to her, pushing her hair out of the way and opening a small, barely noticable compartment on the side of her neck. Inside was a tiny switch, which linked to her artificial brain.
Tinku...
Her eyes opened, slowly. One, the original. piercing blue that he remembered perfectly. The other was dark red, more mechanical. A projector. His heart was beating hard in his chest as he watched her lift her hand, move her fingers, try to sit up. None had ever come this close, started moving on their own. He rushed over, helping her sit up.
Sleepily, she looked up at her creator. The man who loved his wife so much he used every piece of technology available to bring her back. She knew who he was. But how? Her mechanical brain, her programed memories, the hours of home video, digital pictures, made it possible. She knew she loved this man. But he looked different from her 'memories'. His face was older, tired, and his eyes had faded with time. His hair was lighter, peppered with gray and white.
"Tsuri," he whispered, his voice cracking. She smiled, lifting her arms and hugging him for the first time.

It wasn't long before he got sick.
Tsuri watched as the man who loved 'her' worked himself to death, trying to help her to feel what he could. Eventually, she began to develop synthetic feelings. Weak and pale in coparison to the real thing...
She was incomplete. He was growing weaker with fatigue and guilt. He wanted his wife, in soul, not just in body. But it seemed as though it would never happen.
"Tsuri, come...here," he called to her. And he explained. She could not die. She would not age. The whole time, she sat quietly, not looking him in the eye. As he finished he looked over to her, sad and lost.
"You...You're lying." Her voice shook, synthetic anger running through her. "You're LYING! I'm REAL!"

She 'woke up' later, covered in blood. Next to her, he lay. Dead. Tsuri panic'd, looking down at her shaking, blood covered hands.
"No..." Her left eye began to glow, projecting the image of her...and him...
"NOOO!"

System Shut Down

Tsuri shorted out.
When she awoke, she was in a strange place. Alone. Hundreds of years had passed, and everything had deteriorated around her. Her left eye was covered by a tight bandage. All of her memories had been locked away, beyond her reach. Her body was weakened from her long sleep, and she had resorted to a near child-like state...
