Benjamin Knightley

Appearance:
Long, waist length blonde hair, blue eyes, rather tall and stockily built, but not overly muscled.
Most commonly wears a black top hat with goggles worn on top, and a long black coat with gold embroidery and a frilled lace trim along the cuffs and base.
Along with this he often wears various dress shirts waistcoats and suit trousers.
Often wears spats over his shoes.
He carries a large tool belt around his waist, that has various pouches and useful tools on, as well as his pistol holster on his fight leg and his wrench loop on the back of his left hip.
A belt on his coat houses his sword sheath across the back of his waist.
Sometimes wears hair falls when not wearing his hat and coat (normally while working)

Abilities:
He is skilled with almost anything man-made, and is extremely intuitive with anything mechanical or electrical, knowing what makes them ‘tick’ One could attribute this to what is seen as touch-range Technomancy, allowing him to operate his inventions in ways no normal human could.

Equipment:
Rapier – basic golden-hilted fighting sword.

Torneau
Aquired during his journeys in the east, Knightley believed a simple katana he aquired was not enough, so he set about modifying it to his needs.

The blade has been modified to have a gear mechanism within it, covered by the brass plates running along the side, and the Tsuba has been custom crafted by him from brass, and a mechanical mechanism mounted just below it, which is connected to the one in the blade, and has a grip mechanism on the handle, as well as a lever which runs parallel to the handle.

By twisting the grip it builds up pressure within the mainspring of the mechanism.
When the lever is pulled it releases that tension, causeing the mechanism in the blade to activate and causing resonance to run through it, causing it to function like a vibroblade., allowing it to do more damage and also have more force when coming up against other weapons and metal objects.

Clockwork Chainsword


Phlogisticated Ætheric beam Projection Sword

By the focusing of Ætheric energy within the handle, this beam weapon generates a constant stream of the energy, which is projected up the length of the weapon until it reaches the collector, where the energy ic converted back down and dissipated.

The blade section is telescopic, so shortens in length when not in use for ease of carrying.

Wrench – large brass / copper / steel construction wrench with heavy teethed jaws for the harder tasks.

Cane - normal walking cane with a brass orb at the top.

Mechanical Wings – pair of copper-frames wings wit brass feather-like portions on them, chain drives and gears adorn them showing some o their workings.
Tool belt – pouches and slings for all the basic tools an engineer would need.
Mini-generators – Small circular generators made up of rings that rotate around a core, useful for powering up objects, or, in a pinch can be caused to overload and thrown at the enemy

Temporal Control Gauntlet
This Gauntlet is worn on Knightley's left arm, and consists of a normal armoured gauntlet to match the other pieces of his suit, but the vambrace has a circular tube attatched to it, with a porthole showing a vortex of Ætheric energy contained within.
Either side of this are cylindrical containment cells which cipher the energy, then traveling down tubing to be fed into the controm matrix, another cylinder set into a recess which pops up when in use.
The upper surface of the control matrix contains various symbols and mathematical duagrams, as well as displays showing the status and co-ordinates of the gauntlet.
there is an outer ring that can be rotated to change the setting on it.
A crystal in the palm of the hand is used as the focus for creating the windows, through the setting of the control matrix this fires out a small point of light, hwich, when it reaches its targeted point forms a small point of light in that space, expanding outwards into a window at a pre-determined size.
These windows allow the person or object passing through them to travel to another space, another time, or sometimes, very rarely, another dimension, although the calculations required are extremely tricky.

Zero-Point Energy Field Manipulator Gauntlet

Or A"Tesla Gauntlet" for short.

This Gauntlet is worn on Knightley's right arm, and consists of a normal armoured gauntlet to match the other pieces of his suit, but the vambrace has a circular tube attatched to it, with a porthole showing the generator beneath it.

Beneath this is where the bed of crystals lay, and dead center is a small vacuum, the location of the Zero-point energy. Large arcs of electricity arc outwards from the center to the outside, where the contacts are.

Small thin energy channels run along the metal (insulated from it) and lead to the fingertips, which have small rectangular contact pads on each, which can channel the energy, as well as a crystal at the center of the palm which can manipulate the energy into fields.

Ætheric Oscillation Impliment
Based around the basic technology of an Æther oscillator, this small handheld model has been adjusted so it can be used for innumerable functions, the switches on the sides adjust the output from the implement's emitter, ranging it from the strength of a weapon down to something as simple as resonating the mechanism in a lock, locking or unlocking it.


Mjolnir Steam Pistol

Custom crafted by Benjamin Knightley, the Mjolnir steam pistol is his main long ranged weapon. Nicknamed "the hammer", his pistol was named after the norse god's hammer due to the fact it carries 6 large caliber bullets at a time, which are fed into the chamber and then steam pressure is built up behind them. when the trigger is pulled the valve opens, forcing the pressure behind the bullet and firing it.


Tesla cannon
Utilizing a set of backpack mounted Tesla generators, which feed the electricity through an armoured cable and down into the base of the rearmost grip. Here the electricity is fed into a coil within the main chamber of the weapon, where it is channelled and fired through the front of the cannon.

The power of this cannon is such that the blast can tear through most basic metals and has been known to down small airships with one shot, but the charge time makes it inefficient for combat against infantry.

Powered battle armour.
This suit of armour is only accessed in the extremes of cases, as it involves him having to access his own future through the use of his temporal gauntlet, and so risks a paradox.
The suit is an ordinary full suit of plate armour, silver in colour with brass trim and scrollwork / designs running across its surface.
The gauntlets are still the same as his normal pair, and he also still has a pair of mechanical wings, but this is a larger pair attached to the back of the chest plate.
The centre of the chest plate, beneath a cut-out of his crest, is a small void generator, similar to that of his temporal gauntlet, and its power can be routed to any of the armours other systems, increasing their capability or protection.
The helmet has a lift up visor, similar to the old gothic style suits of armour but the faceplate contains an analytical heads up display, which appears like a strafing blue light through the horizontal slits.

History:
Benjamin Knightley was born into a typical upper class Victorian family, Living in London (or the equivalent of it in other realities.) his parents attempted to get him into the trappings of the higher classes such as fencing, and the many parties.
Though he did find interest in fencing and the martial arms, he could not keep his mind away from his spark for invention and finding out how things worked. Whatever chance he could get he was found with his nose in a book, and quickly rose through his classes.
When he finally left university he took up life as an inventor, acquiring his own workshop, but still working at the college part time to fund his research, and submitting the odd thesis to the royal institution.
Through exploration Knightley came to discover Gaia, and often made trips to it at times, later setting up the door in his workshop that would allow ease of travel without the use of his gauntlet.

-------------------------------------Knightley has begun experimenting with creating clockwork constructs that can actually operate and carry out their tasks on their own, the first of these all being just experiments that led up to his first complete work, The clockwork samurai.

Around the same size as a human, this construct was created from various clockwork movements and pulley systems, encased in a shell of brass plates, topped off with a suit of authentic samurai armour and a katana he acquired by visiting the Edo period.
To test this new construct's capabilities he entered it in a tournament, pitching it against other fighters.

Taking the results of this he began improving the design, as well as looking into the one thing the original samurai lacked, conscious thought and speech.

The experimentation with this led him to further his work with the Æther, culminating in him creating a pair of small clockwork arachnids, the first was given to a fellow scientist who had requested the arachnid construct, while the second became his basis for further trials, being named Hystocrates.

After time he found Hystocrates was indeed developing conscious thought, as they developed through learning, much like the human psyche, leading him to try his next feat.

A second clockwork automaton was built, but rather than being designed for battle, she would be his assistant in his workshop, focusing on her learning and thought abilities, Clara soon becoming his perfect workshop assistant.

After a visit from a future creation, Machine Guy, he began upgrading Clara with battle capabilities, including the clockwork monster form, though he set it up so that her personality and memories would be disaibled when in this state, not wanting to put her through it.

CLARA: Clockwork Living Ætheric Reconnaissance Automaton

Appearance;
A construct that resembles a life size jointed doll, with a porcelain face.
Inside is a multitude of clockwork movements, the main one being within the torso, where the heart gear rests.

Personality:
Clara, although being a construct, actually bears a personality, through workign with her father in a workshop she is indistinguishable from a child in her ways.

History:
Constructed by the inventor Benjamin Knightley, she was designed as the prototype to his clockwork creations, but also an attempt to see what limits he could take his knowledge of clockwork and the Æther.
She is often sent out on excursions to test her abilities and allow her to grow and develop her personality in her own ways, but the rest of the time she can be found at his side.

Equipment / Abilities:
Lacroix;
This sword of brass composition has multiple gears forming a movement within it, this allows it to have the force vibration capability, but also means it can extend and change.
In its restful state, it resembles an ordinary double edged brass sword, the blade extends a little, and the edges retract exposing the gears, forming what is essentially a chainsword, and then at its full extension can become a polearm.

Mechanical body:
Clara has become well practiced in the art of ballet, her extremely flexible body aiding her well, and often uses this beyond gymnast-like quality in any encounters she may have. The internal composition of her mechanics is extremely versatile, so can adapt to many situations and applications, but has some fixed pieces.

Appearance;
The pair of newly constructed dolls are just like Clara, entirely clockwork creations, however these are covered with the artificial skin Knightley has begun adding to the dolls, meaning they appear almost human in ways. Save for slight differences, as well as the height, the two appear to be identical twins, every feature the same, and Fleur can always be seen carrying Lys around.

Personality:

Abilities:
Fleur's body is different to the other dolls, in that it has extra components and therefore weighs more too. Throughout her body is various small sound generators as well as what equates to several small resonance chambers. by controlling the sound within each of these her body can emit a low "hum", though the frequency and pitch of this can be easily altered and shaped as it is part of her body, thus allowing her to amplify our cancel out sounds around her through constructive and destructive interference. This combined with the specialist violin she carries allows her to manipulate the notes of the instrument to the point they can even be used as offensive weapons.

Abilities:
Technomancy:
He is skilled with almost anything man-made, and is extremely intuitive with anything mechanical or electrical, knowing what makes them ‘tick’ One could attribute this to what is seen as touch-range Technomancy, allowing him to operate his inventions in ways no normal human could.

Chronomancy:
Due to becoming enravelled in time travel and its regulation to prevent harm, Knightley now, just like reggie, has a field around him that almost literally cuts him off from the timeline, preventing damage to him through effecting his timeline or that of any events that directly or indirectly effect his past. This also makes him immune to any time, chaos, or antimatter abilities.

Equipment:
Rapier.

Tempus Antikythera
Large pocket watch-like device of around two feet in diameter, is attached to his coat by chains and can be carried or allowed to swing freely on its chains, the device is the culmination of all of Knightley's research ad inventiveness, giving him near mastery over time and space similar to his left gauntlet, but is more efficient, the time window within also allowing him to pull forth any of his equipment from it that he has stored in his usual dead zone.

Fleur and Lys
Pair of modded pistols based around the bodies of flintlocks but greatly modified, twin barelled, extended length. load through slide in section on bottom of each, two shot.

Chronos
Extremely advanced sword containng a small time window within the hilt, this blade is said to be able to split even a second, the edges of the weapon humming with energy and slicing through anything it comes into contact with.

Secundus
Thin single edged longsword, styled after an elegant second hand.

Minuite
Broad longsword, styled after an elegant minuite hand.

Hora
Large broadsword, styled after an hour hand.

These three swords when used in conjunction are incredibly powerful, giving the user an even greater deree of chronomancy, especially when combined with the Tempus antikythera.


History:
Not long after his creation of MG, there occured the mysterious disappearance of Reggie, the future Knightley was then left with no choice but to step in as guardian of time, something that to some would seem was his obvious fate, and so closing his workshop he trusted his creation to his past self, and then set about work building a device that would serve him well just like the one on reggie's back had.

Time and space in the center of the room shifted and swirled, warping in a small spot at the center of the room as the fabric of time slid open, not tearing like most travelers did, and then sliding shut just as easily as i there had been no hole in the first place.

Knightley now stood there at the center of rosso's, one could say a man reborn, as this was not the Knightley most new who ran the shop on the outskirts of durem.

This was the Knightley of ten years future to that one, the one who had created the Machine Guy, and the one who had sent him to the past because he had to take up the mantle as guardian of time.

The large tempus device that hung from the chains of his coat settled, and swung down to lay in its natural position at his back as the spacial distortion ended.

Was this where it was coming from?? Was this the pantheon of the gods? This inconspicous looking building that emitted an aura like Kalki had never felt before? It had to be, his Sense had never lied to him before. So what if he'd been locked up for five years inside that 'rehiblitation clinic'. Those last words left a bad taste in his mouth, he'd have licked his lips but the muzzle was still attached and he couldn't figure out how to get the damnable thing off so it'd have to wait. He could still remember the looks on there faces when he'd busted out of the straight jacket and had his way with the nurses, oh yessss..... they'd felt nice. Even nicer still when he clawed his way into they're guts and strewn them about the room like christmas decorations. Enough daydreaming though. It was time to pledge himself to the gods. Moving quietly through the door he looked around, his pale blue eye's taking in the scene. No one here seemed exceptionally divine, though he knew looks weren't everything. Yet something caught his eye instantly. A blue skined man in what appeared to be heavenly armor. Could it be?!?! Was this Shiva??

Knightley tilted his head as the newcomer entered, gazing at him with his blue eyes over the rim of his half moon glasses, as his long blonde hair swayed with the movement.

Quickly realizing he was being watched Kalki turned and noticed a man dressed as if he were in the wrong era, yet who was he to question the will of the Gods? There was nothing overly powerful about the man from what he could tell, but he did send out a forceful aura none the less. Turning to face him Kalki gave a slight bow. He would've spoke but the muzzle kept his jaw locked firmly in place. So all he could do was try to communicate through his eye's that he meant no harm he was simply here to bask in the glory of the divine one's and serve their will.

Tilting his head slightly towards the strange new man an elegantly gloved hand reached up to grip the brim of the miniature top hat, lifting it from his head in greeting before returning it to its resting place.

Truth be told he was caught for words himself, but that was because he was experiencing some of the senses of his newfound chronomancy himself, feeling the threads of fate of everyone around him, especially in such a place as this, all crossing and interjecting each other, some threads ending their courses forever at those interjections.

Seeing that the demi god meant him no harm Kalki decided to make an offering to this being of divinity. Pulling a large chunk of raw meat from the bag he carried he dropped to his knee's and held it out to the man with his head bowed. As he waited for the god to accept his offering he wondered just why it was that these deities had decided to take on human forms and meddle in the world of mortals. Maybe even the gods got bored from time to time. It really wasn't for him to question the will of the divine, yet he couldn't help but wonder if their movement among the world of men had something to do with the end of days being near.

Looking quizzically down at the man, he finally turned and took a step from his arrival spot, an after-image that seemed to be a couple of seconds delayed from his own body blurred along behind each movement, giving him almost an ethereal quality to the edges of his form.

"Meat? by jove what good would I do with that in a place like this?"

His prim oxford accent even had a slight echo to it as his new state was still adjusting it seemed.

Kalki was taken aback, he didn't think the Gods' language spectrum had followed along so closely with the realm of men's own. Then it hit him like a ton of bricks, of course why hadn't he seen it before? In the forms of their avatars God's required no nutrients. He nodded his understanding and placed the flesh back in his bag. He stood and watched in amazement as this man seemed to move faster than the human eye. Even his voice was to angelic for Kalki's lowly ears, it echoed with a faint accent as it traveled throughout the room. Seeing a chance for communication Kalki quickly pulled out a pad and pen and began to write. Once he was done he handed the pad to the deity.

Dear Divine Power,
My name is Kalki Yuga, though this you probably already know. I am here simply to worship at the literal pantheon of divine power. I know not why you God's have chosen to take to your avatar forms and descend to the realm of men, but I am here to be your humble servant to whatever task you may present to me.


At least now he'd gotten his point across.

He indeed had, as the gentleman now fully understood why he was acting so strangely, letting out a chuckle.

"Oh blightey, you believe these people here deities? I am afraid to disappoint you young sir but I am merely a man of science, an inventor. My current appearance, and.. sound."

At this he waved a arm though the air, watching the afterimage he was leaving even when moving slowly, before continuing.

"Are both due to what you could call my latest 'experiment' as it were."

Kalki was confused, but only for a moment. Then he was enlightened by the cosmos as to the ruse that the God's had to uphold. This deity did not believe what he was trying to convince Kalki of, he was merely trying to keep his identity and the identity of his fellow deities a secret. Well who was Kalki to question the will of the God's? He nodded solemly and scribbled on the pad once more.

Very well my lord, I would wish to know the name that you would have me call you if not by your true one.

Knightley sighed, looking down at the man and realizing no matter what he said he likely couldnt be corrected, so decided to answer.

"My name is...

I am the Regulator."

Kalki nodded and took to his knee's bowing low. He was elated that the deity had given his true name, Regulator. Kalki's idea that this was a lesser or prehaps demi god was probably accurate, he'd never heard tells of the Regulator before, but this one's aura was nothing less than divine. It gave him great pleasure to be able to worship at the feet of a true cosmic power.

Knightley stood there, unmoving or even realizing that Kalki was there any more.

The Regulator.

That's who he was now, guardian of the timestream, though no longer could he be father to his creations, he would have to leave that to his self who was still integrated into the timestream, unlike himself who was now cut off from it.


Raising slowly he bowed once more and began to scribble on his pad.

How may I serve you today Lord Regulator, it is and will always be my honor to do your bidding.

Reaching to his back, the Regulatoe grasped the Tempus Antykithera and pulling it, swung the large pocket watch round to in front of him, the hands on the face slowly beginning to turn, as he checked the device, the mechanism bearing no controls as he controlled it purely through his technomancy.

Kalki stood back and watched in amazement as the Regulator began to mess with what appeared to be an enormous pocket watch, he wasn't sure what it was for but then again the God's weapons sometimes took.... questionable forms.

The speed of the hands rotation began increasing rapidly, and then almost as quickly they halted in their motion, just as the Regulator's body suddenly aligned itself, the afterimage catching up with his real body and the echo leaving his voice.

"I am afraid I must take my leave."

His form flickered, and then the rift in time and space around him slipped open again, pulling him in and whisking him to wherever it was he needed to be now.
