blankness ahead
this is just for a bit leisure i made this just to have a working pad here in the gaia world and i want everybody know what's on my mind hehehe
Descartes viewed mind as immaterial, which is something that is incorporeal—nonphysical. He argued that the “I” is a thinking thing, by which its nature is entirely to think; does not need any material things just for this “I” to exist. But I is distinct from the body. Descartes gave distinction by this two by saying that the mind, by its nature, is essentially indivisible, while the body is divisible. In Descartes’ Six Meditation in which he presented the argument from clear and distinct perception, he stated that the mind and body are two distinct substances in which they can exist even without the other.

But on this account of Descartes, some thinkers claim that it is invalid. I maybe able to doubt that I have a body, I may think that I can imagine myself still existing without a body, but I cannot validly infer from this that having a body is no part of my essential nature (177*). Meaning that by doubting that the mind has a body does not mean to say that the body is not essentially part of the mind’s nature.
