Chapter 1
The wind blew hard the waves rocked against the boat. Being sold as a slave was not how Arima wanted to spend her life, but after the rue of Talic Carson of Teyasuner
The world had changed in some parts of Merith and reverted back to the old ways when people "with out a future" were sold as slaves along with orphans and other lower class people.
"Land ho!"
Arima whipped her head around; sure enough the big mass of island that used to be an island called Garth was now crumbled and broken but still there. Sh was pushed into a line then lined up so the upper class could devour the slaves like ravens eating bread.
Before Arima knew it she was being pulled towards the edge of the stage and the people where discussing me and pointing, speaking in a language she couldn't understand. It scared her a bit to know that she probably wouldn't know what to do. When Arima was handed over to the man his language went back to English.
"What’s your name?" he stared absent mindedly in front of him.
"Arima" she answered so low she didn't think he could hear her. He nodded then pulled her off in the direction of the docks. He turned towards her a smirked at the look on Arima’s face
"I am a pirate" she looked shocked
“Why did you buy a slave? wouldn't it be easier for you to get caught if I get taken?” He turned and within second was in Arima’s face.
"Oh but you wont tell anyone will you?" he growled out and she flinched away from him
"No" she whispered back.
"Good" he then turned and walked towards a ship that had to be one of the biggest in port.
The sails were tattered and an off white color, clearly from years of use.
"here she is the Mariea Ann Cortez” Arima looked up at the ship that was going to be her new home she felt a little nervous what was she going to be doing on this ship she didn't even know why someone like the man in front of her would buy a slave.
"Captain Lamport” the mans head turned to one of the men sanding on the deck looking down at him
“We are ready to leave whenever you are" he yelled down before turning and disappearing on deck.
“You might want to say goodbye to this land now this might be the last time you see it” He said with a laugh then tugged her aboard the Cortez by the rope that bound her hand together. She squeaked at the sudden pull forward then followed him onto the ship. As Arima had suspected it was full of large men most of which were scary
“Oh look at the little girl" one of them called causing Arima to flinch.
"Hey boss how old is she?" one of the others called, he shrugged then untied her hands
and "threw Arima to the dogs" before going up and taking them out of port.
A few hours later Arima was standing on deck looking at the ocean while everyone one else including the captain was feasting below the decks.
“beautiful isn't it"
she turned around and was looking at a man with back hair and sea green eyes.
'why yes very much so" Arima said with a smile. He smirked then his face twisted into a confused look
"Why aren't you down stairs eating with everyone one else?" he asked stepping closer to lean on the railing like she had been.
“I wasn't aware I was allowed to eat" Arima stated the man broke out into laughter
“What? the captain didn't seem to be that type of person to be incredibly happy to share food." She stated glaring at him. He continued laughing.
“of all the things my brother is, cruel is not one of them" he said
"He….WAIT WHAT HE'S YOUR BROTHER?!" this caused him to start laughing again.
"So are you the younger one you seem like it" he abruptly stopped laughing
"I am 23 for your information."
“Wow you old" Arima stated
"HEY!"
she busted out laughing
"If your 3 err I mean 23" Arima smirked at the look on his face
"Then how old is you brother?"
“Kadien’s 18" he said
“So that's his name…"
"Yeah" she looked at him and realized how similar they looked the same black hair, tall, thin, slightly muscular, the only difference was the eyes Kadien's were sky blue while this mans were sea green.
"What's your name?" Arima asked him.
“Coincidentally it’s Aidan" he stated
"Wow I can definitely tell you guys are brothers." she laughed he glared then laughed as well.
“Sharing family secrets are we now?" Aidan and Arima turned and were facing Kadein.
“of course not captain Lamport" Aidan stated straightening his posture.
“good now leave." before Kadein could finish Aidan had already taken off.
His black haired was tied back in a thin leather strap and it hung loosely over his shoulder
Arima looked up at him
"So why am I here?"
"That’s for me to know and you to find out" he smirked as she stared at him in confusion Kadein quickly turned around retreating to the captains quarters.
It was early, Arima’s back was stiff and she felt dirty. But nothing new she had been a slave for 4 months already but only been on the captains' ship for almost a day.
A girl walked in and pulled her up “time to get you cleaned up” she said as she pulled Arima into a room which she assumed was like washing room because there was almost nothing in it. She handed her a rag and a bucket of water
"Use this to clean yourself up, here is a change of clothes. we need to get you out of those rags you’re wearing.”
Arima nodded and then she left she striped my clothes off and used the rag to clean my skin Arima was amazed at how white she was underneath all the dirt. she had forgotten she was almost as pale as snow she also washed her hair. it was once a matted together grey color but. was now a mop of dark brown ringlets that cascaded down to her lower back.
Arima walked up onto the deck when Aidan was acting like he usually did ….crazy.
"Ah, good morning Arima" he grabbed her around the waist and pointed towards the horizon.
"Isn’t that the most beautiful thing you've ever seen" he smirked. Arima nodded
"It is definitely one of them" she agreed
“So do you now why I am here?" she continuned
"Because captain Lamport needs some one to take over the little things, and do the other things that run the ship." Aidan replied not looking at her.
"Oh…alrig-HEY YOUR LIEING ARENT YOU!" she yelled.
"Shush the captain is still sleeping." Aidan stated.
"Who’s in charge of the ship?" Arima asked
"That would be me the 1st mate" Aidan said with a smile.
she looked at him.
“He left YOU in charge?"
"No I didn't" a deep voice from behind us called Aidan and Arima both turned to see Kadein coming up from the captains quarters.
“Bit of a late rise" Aidan stated.
Kadein shook his head, suddenly a beautiful blonde woman with ruffled clothes stepped out of the captains’ quarters
"Kadein remember you said you'd hurry back" her voice had a slight suggestive edge to it.
Soon after that we landed in port to restock I slipped off the ship, she did not want to be there large men, captains’ having sex with random women, being a slave it was just too much. she used the cargo on the dock as hiding spots and slowly as well as snieakily made her way to the market place.
"Excuse me miss?" Arima turned and was looking at a man who was nicely dressed.
"Yes?" she replied.
"Are you from they royal family?" he questioned Arima shook her head ‘why would he even ask that? She was a slave wasn’t she? She couldn’t really remember”.
"I don't know what you are talking about" he seemed to think for a second
"Can I see your right shoulder?" Arima hesitated for a second but slid the dress off her shoulder on it was a mark of a dragon.
"A DRAGON!" he breathed.
"The mark of the royal family which means you must be the long lost daughter of the king Alexis Arima Saecrest!”
Arima looked at the man in shock when he randomly said that.
“I think you have a mistake, I am slav-er I mean I work on a ship and have for a long while so I don’t see how I could be this Alexis girl.” Arima rambled on trying to loose the guard’s interest.
The guard didn’t look like they believed it, at that moment Arima hadn’t noticed the other man behind the first guard who looked at her with interest she felt like hyperventilation under the two guard’s intense stares.
Suddenly a tall man walked up and put his arm around Arima,
“I am sorry gentlemen she seems to be telling the truth since she has been working for me” The lies came easily out of Kadien’s mouth.
“Really?” the guards looked at Arima who just nodded, the two guards looked as if they didn’t believe him and with good reason too they could tell he was a pirate all though he was dressed fancy and was clean cut he had a arrogant air about him.
Finally without questioning them further the guards gave up and left or that’s how it would appear, they actually went to the dock and were preparing a ship to follow Arima’s “boss”
“Well that was fun” Kadein stated with a smirk.
“Shut up” Arima said he was annoying her.
“Oh touchy today aren’t we?” He stated with a smirk and squeezed her behind.
Arima squealed and slapped him across the face as a reflex. The look that crossed Kadien’s face was deadly and for a second Arima considered taking off and running into a crowd of people so she wouldn’t get hurt. The suddenly Kadein burst out laughing leaving Arima very confused.
“What?” was all she could say as the mans laughed spread echoing off the houses even in the crowded street.
“I probably deserved that no?” He laughed.
“I mean your second day on the ship and you have the misfortune of meeting candy, or was it cherry?..maybe amber?” Kadein stroked his smooth chin in though think about how many women he had actually slept with.
For some reason the longer Kadein had to think about it the more Arima got angry, she didn’t know why but she just felt so angry and she wanted nothing more than to slap him again thankfully before she could act on her plan Aidan strolled up with a big smile on his face.
“Hello” he commented.
Kadein snapped out of his musings.
“Hello brother” he replied and the two suddenly switched languages leaving Arima feeling very left out and before she knew it the pair were gawking at women and telling Arima to run along to the ship because they had some “Business” to attend to.
Arima did follow their directions to a point she did leave however she went to a small book store she had found, Arima didn’t know how she could read but she knew as long as she could remember she could,
Arima walked into an old book store run by an elderly woman.
“Hello deary feel free to look around” the old woman told her , a friendly smile was plastered on the woman’s face, he kindness made Arima smile for the first time she could remember in a while.
Arima skimmed the rows of books until a particularly old one caught her attention she opened it and she thought it was strange it was talking about the Saecrest royal family.
Arima found a wooden stool in the corner and sat upon it her hands running over the pages Arima felt drawn to this book she opened the book and looked down to a picture of a young girl 9 or 10 in a what appeared to be white dress but she couldn’t tell because the picture was in black and white she had dark curly hair and Arima was shocked at how close the looked across from the picture was what shocked Arima.
“ princess Alexis Arima Saecrest, daughter of King Darmin Theus Saecrest and Cordilia Maris Saecrest”
This shocked Arima because she always felt or more or less knew Arima was a nick name, but she could remember anything.
Pain shot through her head and Arima gripped her head.
‘But Emanuel I don’t want to leave’ the brown haired girl Arima immediately recognized as herself.
‘You have to princess’ a tall man with a powdered wig urged Arima into a boat. He took frequent glances behind him at the castle before finishing getting the boat ready to leave. Arima didn’t say anything suddenly out of no where men attacked the man ‘EMANUAL!’ Arima shrieked Emanuel fought off the men long enough to get over to her and then shove her boat off out of the reach of the attacking men she fell back and hit her head and her world went black.
