Best Kept Quiet
Thoughts, Sayings, Beliefs...everything....
Epilogue Ch. 5 - Through Glass
I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
Oh God it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head.

"Does he know?" The question was quiet and almost stuttered. Amanda's head was down, in shame or disappointment, Nikole didn't know. She sighed.

"As far as I know, no." Nikole's attention turned to the closed door.

"Will he ever know?" Her words became softer and softer. Nikole shook her head. Standing up, she walked over to the door, opened it, and exited the room, leaving Amanda alone.

'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head.

Sitting down on the couch, Nikole found herself staring blankly at her son. His thick hair was soft but strong. The blond tips gave him a sense of wild and his brown gave him mystery. His face was chubby and it always held a smile, no matter what the weather of life is like, his body was long but firm, a sure sign of his father. His eyes though, were what connected him to Nikole, and she was proud of it.

How do you feel? That is the question
But I forget you don't expect an easy answer
When something like a soul becomes initialized
And folded up like paper dolls and little notes
You can't expect a bit of folks.

"Auntie Nikki!" Nikole shook her head.

"What?" A small blush crept up her face.

"Can we...play a game?" He smirked. The brunette got up.

"What do you want to play?" His smirk grew.

"Euchre!" Nikole's eyes widened.

"When did you learn to play that?" Phoenix started to laugh.

"Daddy taught me, and he also said that you taught him. I thought that was funny."

So while you're outside looking in
Describing what you see
Remember what you're staring at is me

'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

"Mother of God..." Nikole got up to retrieve the cards, but stopped suddenly.

"We can't play." Phoenix' smile dropped.

"What? Why?"

"We need at least 4 people to play, and we only have two." Phoenix shifted his head toward Nikole's bedroom.

"What about your girlfriend?" Nikole's blush deepened in colour. She leaned in to whisper in Phoenix' ear.

"Do you honestly think she could play?" He gave a hearty laugh.

"I heard that." Amanda said from behind Nikole, making her jump.

"Jesus Christ!" Amanda scoffed.

"Watch the language around the kid."

How much is real? So much to question
An epidemic of the mannequins, contaminating everything
We thought came from the heart
But never did right from the start
Just listen to the noises
(Null and void instead of voices)

Before you tell yourself
It's just a different scene
Remember it's just different from what you've seen

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
And all I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head.

Phoenix looked at Amanda and smiled.

"It's alright, my daddy does it all the time when we're in the car." Nikole tried to stiffle a laugh.

"That sounds just like you Amanda." The red-head turned to the brunette and glared.

"Me? What about you? Screaming at the top of your lungs just because someone didn't have their turn signal on?" Nikole opened, but then closed her mouth. Amanda smirked in victory.

"Exactly."

Phoenix got up and laid himself down on the couch, snuggling into the pillow it provided. Nikole walked over and laid a small blanket across his body.

"Time?" She asked.

"30 minutes please." Nikole smiled.

"Sleep tight, don't let the couch bugs bite." A small laugh was heard from Phoenix before he drifted off to sleep.

'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
And all I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

And it's the stars
The stars that shine for you
And it's the stars
The stars that lie to you, yeah

And it's the stars
The stars that shine for you
And it's the stars
The stars that lie to you, yeah

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
Oh God it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head.

"Great, just seeing him lay down is making me tired." Amanda yawned.

"Go lay down, i'll come join you in a few." Amanda nodded and disappeared into the bedroom. Nikole leaned over Phoenix' body and left a small kiss atop his forehead. Leaning further, closer to his ear, she whispered out...

"I love you, with all my heart, I wish I could be a better mother, but I can't. No matter what happens, you'll always be my baby bird." With that, Nikole got up and left the room, joining Amanda in their own.

'Cause I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
All I know is that it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

And it's the stars
The stars that shine for you, yeah
And it's the stars
The stars that lie to you, yeah

And it's the stars
The stars that shine for you, yeah
And it's the stars
The stars that lie to you, yeah yeah

Who are the stars?
Who are the stars that lie?

Phoenix turned around just in time to see the door shut. A small tear trailed down his face.
