Serenity Lunar Tsukino is the daughter of Queen Serenity's younger sister. She was named after her aunt because her mother held Queen Serenity is high regards. Serenity's father was an evil man who her mother had secretly fallen in love with. When it became apparent that her mother was carrying, her father abandoned them. Serenity's mother lied and said she was pregnant due to rape, instead of telling the truth. She was ashamed to admit that she had disgraced her family. After Serenity was born her mother took her and left. She didn't want her sister or mother to know her daughter was half evil. At the age of seventeen, Serenity's mother died and she went to live with her aunt and fifteen year old cousin, Princess Usagi. Serenity's dark side stayed hidden from everyone. When Queen Beryl's forces attacked the Moon, Serenity tried to protect her aunt and cousin. In the end, her life was taken, as was the rest of the senshi's. When Queen Serenity sent the senshi to the future on Earth, Serenity went with them.
In present day Tokyo, Serenity lives alone in a small apartment. She goes to a private high school and is the head of her class, unlike her cousin Princess Usagi. Serenity enjoys math and science experiments. She is accomplished in the kitchen. She grew up without her parents, bouncing from foster home to foster home, until she was sixteen. Then she got her apartment, in which she has lived in for about a year. At the age of fourteen, she found out she was Sailor Moonlight and realized her powers. It took her a while to learn to control her darkside. Serenity loves to be out in nature, especially outside with the moon shining. Serenity has watched the Sailor Senshi from afar, knowing that if she had to she would help them.
