The year after the first Eve War, I was very busy. We had a lot to do, and we had to do it FAST. Before word and rumor spread. Well...word and rumor that wasn't OURS. We started the rumor that there had been a change in the Andeos, yes. But it was that Kostya had finally gotten tired of his brother and decided to run things himself.
I also recruited Cerise and Imogen into helping me search for the colony-boy again. Now that the war was over, it would be easier to get into files that were once inaccesible, and we didn't need to worry about Vasska finding out and wondering when I had come across him. It took a good several months before we finally got something, with our sporadic searches during our busy lives. I was both surprised and not surprised. In the OZ files, there was record of a boy who was captured and used to pilot one of their experimental mobile suits, the Mercurius. The picture was the colony-boy's...and it identified him as Gundam pilot 01. I was surprised that I had been allowed to live by a Gundam pilot, though I'd seen his face and run across him during what I suspected had been a mission of his. I wasn't surprised because it explained his training at his age.
My main duty now was to protect Imogen and Vevina. But now and again, after those first few months tying up loose ends, I would be needed to go and silence someone trying to come out of the woodwork. Usually, I could convince them to stay in hiding. Sometimes...I could not. Those trips usually took me anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks, depending on where in the world, or space, they were holed up.
I found out that one of those 'couple of weeks' trips ended up with me missing a chance to see Amelia for the first time in years. It happened during what would become known as the second Eve War or the Mariemeia rebellion. Kostya said that the baby Amelia had been carrying was older now, and had been kidnapped by the Barton Foundation. And that he and Imogen helped track her down...though the Gundam pilots had stepped in and saved the day before the Andeos could do much.
With that...I also realized I'd missed a chance to see the colony-boy again. Pilot 01...One day, I will find him. And I'll thank him.
