About James:
He is generally a very friendly person. Due to his profession however he often meets cruel masters who abuse the slaves he sells to them far beyond what he considers humane. When this happens a rarely noticed clause in the sale contract says he has the authority to reclaim any slaves he has proof are in danger of loss of life. When he finds a master who breaks this clause he and his bodyguard go pay a visit, and retrieve the slave, regaining ownership.
However this is often met with hostility from the master in question and as such him and his bodyguard's combat abilities come into play. To date they have never failed to retrieve a slave, though there have been a few epic fights. One time he even got turned into a toad at the start of a fight and remained in said form till his bodyguard dispatched the master and cured him afterward.
