Also known as: Lucifer, Bearer of Light (though this is a title he seldom uses); The White Knight; The Fourth; Lucy-boy (courtesy of Zack)

Intelligence: B-
Magic: C- (goes up to A- when faced with a Dark-type)
Speed: C (B when riding horse)
Dexterity: B-
Durability: A-
Valor: B-

Personality:
Lucian fights for a world free of darkness despite how untenable this ideology is. He is generally bigoted towards anything he deems representative of darkness, and is extremely racist and speciesist in this regard. Despite this ideology, though, he does not like being called a “paladin,” as the term refers to a knight who fights for a religion, and he hates the vast majority of organized religions. He especially dislikes the constant rumor that the Ordo Solaris is allied with the Vatican, a charge the organization has denied a couple of times.

He is rather sexist, claiming that women are inferior creatures, though he is quite a perverted womanizer too. Before, he had managed to maintain a façade of chastity, with the help of libido-curbing spells such as Arma Contra Vitium. After an ill-fated encounter with the vampiress Raven, however, the ability of these spells has been diminished greatly.

Lucian is also cunning and manipulative, behaving more like an assassin than a knight when dealing with his most hated enemies. Even among allies, he is mistrustful and controlling, and he attempts to maintain civil relationships with them while clandestinely concocting schemes to either dispose of or take control of them. He is usually unwilling to engage in direct confrontation with someone who has proven to be a good ally in battle, preferring to gain leverage over them through other means (such as kidnapping or extortion).

In combat, Lucian was once renowned to be a careful warrior, always on the watch for sneak attacks. He is highly capable defensively. However, due to recent developments, he has displayed more of an aggressive and reckless streak, as shown by his botched attempt to send Novena to kill Alice.

Background:
Lucian is the fourth highest-ranked officer of the Ordo Solaris, a secretive organization with a vision of “a world free of darkness.” To pursue this end, they have mercilessly slain demons, zombies, vampires, and other “creatures of darkness,” as well as some humans who have affiliated themselves with them. As the organization is rather secretive, little is known about his early life, though like most of the warriors of the Order, he was artificially born. He does not have any known relatives.

For a while, he was the unofficial leader of the mercenary team H.A.Z.E.L., and the one in charge of finding them missions. However, he never got along with Zack, despite Alice’s liking for him; he suspected him to be a demon, and acted like a friend and guardian to him only to be able to watch over him (as well as to bone the women Zack attracts but won’t touch). Tension built up in the team when Zack began to oppose Lucian’s relentless crusade against the darkness, even swearing to protect a particular demon imp Lucian wanted to kill. Wanting to assert his superiority and get Zack to stand down, Lucian secretly kidnapped his former familiar Blackthorn and even had plans for Alice, whom he deemed was the closest to Zack in the team. Ultimately, the team broke up after Speedy and Zack foiled his and Novena’s attempt to kill Alice. Since then, little has been seen of him, though it is highly unlikely that he has ceased his activities for good.

Spells:
Ranks given are against creatures/spells/objects of darkness. Against non-dark-types, rank is D unless otherwise indicated.

Vade Retro, Adversari (Step back, enemy!)
Cost: *
Rank: C-
A simple dispelling technique that causes individual shadow creatures to fly away from him. Though it is not a powerful spell in terms of damage dealt, its minimal use of mana and quick casting time of a third of a second make it a favored weapon when dealing with minions.

Abite Molesti (Go away, pests!)
Cost: **
Rank: C
An upgraded version of Vade Retro, Adversari that dispels multiple targets, with a casting time of half a second. This spell, however, will only banish extremely low-leveled opponents as well as shadow projections and the like. For low-leveled enemies, he prefers to use multiple castings of Vade Retro, Adversari.

Arma Contra Vitium: The Weapons Against Sin
Cost: ** (****** against female opponents)
Rank: B- (all opponents)
Lucian’s body is slightly fortified, and his speed is increased. Furthermore, he gains the ability to suppress emotions like lust and anger, allowing him to concentrate and do his job efficiently. This spell is a prerequisite to using two of his stronger spells, Iuditium Lucis and Absili e Mundo. It normally takes one and one-third of a second to cast.

However, ever since his battles with the vampiress Raven, he has had trouble using this spell properly against females. It takes him much more energy than usual, as well as three seconds longer.

Mandatum Sanctum: The Holy Order
Cost: **
Rank: B- (all opponents)
Lucian’s weapons and armor receive an upgrade of one rank, further boosting their resistance to dark magic and damage to dark creatures. When this enchantment is used, a markedly brighter glow radiates from the white knight.

Cuspis Lucis: The Lance of Light
Cost: ***
Rank: B (C against regular opponents)
One of Lucian’s favored spells. He concentrates a beam of light into his lance, enhancing the amount of damage it deals overall and making a stab from it instantly fatal to many low-ranked demons.

Iuditium Lucis: The Judgment of Light
Cost: *****
Rank: A- (all opponents)
An upgraded version of Cuspis Lucis that is unmistakably Lucian’s trademark spell. Here, Lucian launches the light gathered into his lance as a beam cannon. This attack has the force of a small particle cannon, and is lethal to most minor demons as well as able to severely incapacitate stronger ones. It takes twenty seconds to charge and requires the use of Arma Contra Vitium.

Absili e Mundo: The Ultimate Exile (Flee from this world!)
Cost: ****
Rank: A+
Lucian’s ultimate exorcism spell, an upgraded version of Vade Retro, Adversari. This spell dispels and instantly kills even some high-leveled creatures of darkness. This spell takes about thirty seconds to cast, and, like Iuditium Lucis, requires the prior use of Arma Contra Vitium.

Vitanova: The New Life
Cost: --
Rank: S (all opponents)
This enchantment is a symbol of Lucian’s ties to the Ordo Solaris, and is the reason why he is such a pain to most of his adversaries. Once he is killed in combat, he will merely be regenerated into a new magical shell preserved in the Ordo Solaris headquarters. This shell normally takes a couple of days to charge up into a state usable for combat.

A minor form of this spell is also available to Lucian, allowing him to last up to three minutes more after he has been dealt a fatal blow. To activate this spell, no incantations need to be recited, though Lucian prefers to recite an arbitrary phrase in Latin for the sake of regularity. The catch is that his new shell’s charging time would be slightly increased.

Weapons:
Base ranks are constant regardless of type of enemy.

Virgil: The Shield of the Eternal Sun
Rank: C-
Lucian’s multipurpose parasol, which he uses as a shield. It is surprisingly durable, able to fend off minor physical and magical attacks. When closed, it doubles as a second lance, and Lucian is able to fire minor spells such as Vade Retro, Adversari and Abite Molesti off it.

As a side note, Lucian loathes the term “umbrella” for his weapon, preferring to call it a parasol. This is because “umbrella” comes from the Latin word umbra, meaning shadow. “Parasol,” which comes from the Latin words for sun and shield, is more acceptable to him.

Gloria: The Lance of Decisive Victory
Rank: C+
Lucian’s favored lance, which is the catalyst of most of his strongest attacks. Apart from being able to use it to stab opponents, he is able to fire off spells from it. Gloria is also known to be able to drain away blood, in accordance with Lucian’s preference for doing things quickly and cleanly.

Constantine: The Sword of the Luminous Empire
Rank: B
Lucian’s sword, which he does not use often due to his preference for his lance. He has given it to Novena for her use, though occasionally he will take it up himself. He is able to use it in a similar manner as he does Gloria, charging it with light and filling it with spells.

Familiars:

Vesper
Rank: C
Lucian’s favored white horse. Even without magical aid, this creature is able to go at speeds of up to 60 kph (the average gallop is between 40 and 48 kph), allowing him to move around easily. In battle, when Lucian uses a few spells, this beast can go at up to 120 kph for short periods of time, working hand-in-hand with Lucian’s spear and allowing Lucian to tear through mobs and shatter defenses with great ease.

Novena
Rank: A-
Novena is Lucian’s favorite familiar, despite his professed general dislike of women. She resembles a female teenager in appearance and behavior, though she sports a pair of golden wings and is constantly wearing a masked hat. She is actually rather fun-loving, has a sweet tooth, likes watching Magical Girl manga and is a huge fan of Blondie (a band Lucian detests). Nonetheless, she is extremely subservient to him, and will do anything he commands her to. She has shown signs of affection towards him, though he deals with her in a strictly professional way and does not generally reciprocate these signs of affection.

Novena possesses above-average speed and stamina, and is quite skilled at wielding a sword. Because of this, Lucian has entrusted her with Constantine, his own sword. Her golden armor is quite capable of blocking minor attacks. She is also capable of using some light magic in order to heal Lucian’s injuries, and can even transfer some of her magical energy to him.

Lucian generally hides Novena from his close allies, so that he can clandestinely command her to assassinate them should he ever feel the need to do so. Nonetheless, Zack was aware of her presence, due to an attack on Lulzy that marked the beginning of the straining of their relationship.
