Dream World Mirau Day 24
((Sorry everyone. I'm a day behind due to the holiday but I will do my best to catch up tomorrow after I get some rest tonight. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know I am very thankful for all my supporters. You guys give me the motivation I need to keep going on those days when I feel like I haven't done enough. Thank you all.))

Dream World Mirau by Josephina Mari
Day Twenty Four of NaNoWriMo

Kyle, Clare, and I also worked to find people willing to help after hearing our story about Mirau. After sending out close to thirty emails I started to feel sleep taking over me. I wanted to do more, but my body was starting to feel weak and when I looked at the clock I understood why instantly. It was nearing midnight now and I had to get up in six hours for school. I turned off my computer and then I got dressed in my pajamas and went to sleep shortly after. When I woke up in Mirau I was still on the fishing transport run by Captain Charles, but I could hear some shouting from outside my room. I quickly got up out of bed and went up stairs to see what was going on. I saw an explosion of fire occur just beyond where the ship was and then when I traced it’s origin I noticed Baer stand in a fighting stance with Karou next to him sword drawn. “What’s going on Karou—“ I said and then another explosion occurred rocking the ship a little. I grabbed on to a nearby mast pole to stabilize myself so I wouldn’t fall down then I heard Karou shout as he ran towards me “Mari be careful. The enemy has found us.” Karou said as I watched Baer threw another fire based spell into the air. “I can help fight too Karou. That is why you brought me along right?” I said as I took out my bow and one arrow from my quiver on my back. As I drew the arrow back on the bow I saw a figure dressed in black and red cloak charging for us so I let the arrow fly towards it. The cloaked one quickly dodged my arrow by jumping back a few steps then he said “So this is the destined girl. I will make sure she parishes today. With her gone your people will fall and our influence will spread to the rest of the world. Those who do not accept it and join with us will parish as well. I am Glenn of the Akuen, and we will be the new rulers of Mirau!” I saw both Baer and Karou go rigid in their battle stances as he cloaked one spoke.

“We will defeat you and free Mirau from your tyranny!” I shouted almost as a battle cry to my comrades then I readied my bow again and fired another arrow towards the cloaked man from the Akuen. Glenn quickly dodged the arrow again, but this time Baer followed up with his favorite fire spell throwing Glenn off balance as Karou charged forward to slice at him close range with his sword. Glenn drew a sword from a sheath at his side then he blocked Karou’s strike with it. Karou backed off a little then charged for Glenn again. I watched as the two of them clashed swords over and over trying to find an opening to shoot an arrow at Glenn. “Mari behind us!” Baer said as he threw an impulsive lightning spell at some monsters that were climbing aboard the ship. One of the monsters was hit by the lightning spell causing it to vanish in a black mist like the imp monkeys did in Coasta Bleu. Did that mean like these monsters, the imp monkeys were also under the control of the Akuen? If that was the case then the Akuen were very close to invading if they gained control of the port city. “We will deal with the monsters Karou. Focus on defeating that Akuen guy.” I said to him over my shoulder then I fired an arrow into one of the monsters trying to board the ship causing it to fall overboard and vanish into the black mist. “It’s pointless for you to kill them. Those monsters will continue to appear as long as my black magic exists in this place. I cast a spell on this ship before I boarded it to create a portal for the lesser Akuen beasts to travel from Mesa here. We will use this same spell to invade the other cities.” Glenn said as he clashed hard with Karou’s blade forcing him back a little. “Mari focus on the monsters. If they reach Karou he won’t be able to deal with the enemy.” Baer said as he sent another lightning spell at one of the monsters about to attack me while I was looking at Karou worried.

Baer was right, if the monsters got past our defenses then it would be even harder for Karou to win. I quickly readied my bow again and fired at the nearest enemy monster while Baer continued to use his elemental magic to hold the monsters back. I remembered when Karou described to me what the various potions he bought were used for “If you get hurt drink the red one to speed up your natural healing ability for a short time. The yellow potion is oil for your bow. You want to keep the string moist so it doesn’t break on you. The purple colored potion is thrown to the ground to activate a smoke screen to hide from enemies or escape. The light blue potions you won’t need until you start casting magic so for now try to save those ones for later.” Then I pulled out one of the light blue potions from my backpack that I took with me when I left the room. I took the lid off wondering if the potion was designed to be drunk for the effects to work. Suddenly I felt one of the monsters rush me from behind knocking the potion out of my hand. It went flying towards Baer as the light blue liquid spilled all over him. To my surprise the liquid seemed to disappear as it touched him then he smiled as he called up a fire spell to destroy the monster that had attacked me. Baer then said “Healing Rain” as a blue colored liquid began falling from the sky above me. As the blue colored rain touched me it disappeared like the potion did and suddenly I felt refreshed as the wariness of battle seemed to vanish. “Thanks Mari. I left my magic restorative potions in the room. I didn’t expect we would be fighting until we got to Mesa.” Baer said smiling before he began chanting in Mirau’s native language the word spell for a powerful wind based spell. “Ces tou idst mei oernth sues kei saru nai.” (I call upon the southern winds to blow my foes away.) I watched as a strong gust of wind came knocking off many of the monsters causing them to vanish as they fell towards the sea below. Baer wore a satisfied look on his face of self pride as I shot down a few more of the monsters with my bow. Baer had some pretty amazing magical skills. If somehow I could learn spells like that then surely we could bring down the Akuen.

Meanwhile Karou was getting annoyed with Glenn blocking and dodging his attacks. Karou quickly cast two successive support spells the first to temporarily increase his own speed and then the second to strengthen his striking speed of his sword. The two spells together would make Karou’s attacks swifter and more deadly, but if used together for too long they would cause Karou to get tired quickly making him vulnerable to an attack if he didn’t finish the fight quickly. Glenn held his sword out horizontally in front of him as if he was shielding then he ran his hand over the blade causing a dark energy to flow around it. After the blade was completely covered with the dark energy Glenn charged at Karou and then I watched as both of them clashed swords again passing by each other. Both Karou and Glenn stood motionless for a few seconds and then I saw blood spray out from Karou’s shoulder and Glen hit the desk of the ship hard. All of the lesser Akuen beasts vanished into a black mist followed by Glenn shortly after. “Karou are you alright?” I said as I ran over to him followed closely by Baer. Baer began causing another word spell under his breath so I didn’t hear the incantation, but I saw the effects of it. Baer’s hands began to glow with a green energy as he brought them up over Karou’s wound. The spell seemed to slowly close Karou’s wound while the pained look on his face seemed to slowly disappear as well. “If you knew healing arts why did you need the health potions Baer?” Karou said gritting his teeth a little bit. It looked like the healing spell hurt more then the initial injury. “The health potions were for you guys in case I ran out of magic. Luckily though Mari had her restorative potions with her to help me out in the nick of time.” Baer said smiling as he finished healing Karou then the green colored energy vanished afterward.

“Looks like the Akuen decided to send a welcoming party. You did pretty well facing those beasts Mari. If we can find more warriors like you I’m sure we will win. First things first we need to acquire some more of those stone and bring them back to our friends in the real world. After that we can decide a place to meet up with everyone and come up with a plan on how to strike the Akuen’s base. They surely got news of this members defeat by now so they will be playing it cautious from now on. We most likely will face tougher foes from here on out. Be ready for anything.” Karou said as he stood to his feet again. “Maybe my Master will be able to help us when we find him. For now it is best we get what little rest we can before we reach Mesa. I’m guessing we should be there within a few hours.” Baer said trying to guess the time based on the position of the sun in the sky and how far he thought we were from Mesa. Karou, Baer, and I walked throughout the ship checking to make sure everyone was okay and helping to treat anyone who may have gotten wounded. Luckily for us there were very few injuries since all of the fighting was done on the deck of the ship away from the crew. After the wounded were treated I gave Baer another magic restoring potion which this time he drank before he handed me the empty bottle then I put it away in my backpack. The three of us then returned to our rooms below deck to get some rest before we arrived in Mesa.
