The Pirate's Revenge: Chapter 17
I opened the infirmary door to a ridiculous scene that I almost expected. Rex was employing his three accessible bending abilities (air, fire, and water) to attempt to woo Sakura Sumiko, who was tending to Kira and pointedly ignoring Rex. It seemed Kira and Sakura Edokawa had been sparring and Kira's wounds from the battle with the Apocalypse had reopened. She was sitting in a cot while Sumiko patched her up and she and Edokawa laughed at Rex's antics. All except Rex turned at the minute swish of the infirmary door opening.
"Hi, Cap'n Sparrow."
"Hey, Captain."
"Heya, Edokawa, Kira. You okay, kiddo?"
"Yeah. Just went a bit past my stitches' limits."
"You be more careful. Don't want Sumiko ta haveta patch ya up ten million times a month."
"Sure thing, Cap'n."
I chuckled and tried to get Rex's attention.
"Hey, Re-ex. Monsieur le'Chef~. Rex! Hey! Buddy! REX!"
Didn't even register that I was right there. I hooked an ankle behind his knee and knocked his feet from under him. Nothing doing. He just made a ball of wind and zoomed around the room. I rolled my eyes and headed back out.
"See ya abovedecks later, guys."
"Later, Cap'n."
"Did you need something, Captain Sparrow?" Sumiko'd finished bandaging Kira and looked up as I got to the door.
"No, just him." I jerked my thumb at Rex. "An' stop calling me Captain Sparrow, 'Kura. Ye've known me fer 30 years! That's long enough ta start callin' me by my name like the other senior crewmates."
"Okay, Cap--Jaqueline. Sorry."
"That's better, babe."
I winked and walked out of the infirmary cackling because Rex had just hit the wall and gone sprawling. I descended another level to the galley to see if I could get Miyavi or Mari to help me with Rex. Mari was at the counter, chopping up meat and veggies for the evening meal. She looked up at the sound of my boots on the stairs. Being a Sphinx, her hearing was keener than mine.
"H'lo, Captain," the gaudily mismatched girl chirrupped amicably, "What can I do for you this fine afternoon?"
"Think ya could spare, say, five minutes an' get Rex f'me?"
"Sure thing, Captain," she grinned, licking blood from her butcher knife and setting it point down in the cutting board, "I'll get him topside for ya."
"Thanks, luv."
Five minutes later, Rex and I were on the quarterdeck, and he was waterbending the Sparrow away from the, now fogbound, Apocalypse. We reached London before nightfall.

And that's another chapter done. Yeah, it's a bit short, but that's how I keep you guys reading, now ain't it? Comments please. Comments are important. The next chapter won't go up till I have at least two comments.

I like it. Especially when Rex crashed into the wall. Your use of phonetics in the dialogue is fantastic. It's very natural.

Btw, do I still have an invite to make a character?

I noticed that you tend to be a bit dialogue heavy. Try beig more descriptive and employ more action...other than that it's great, Cap'n!
