Anime and Love
nan desu kan, convention of bullying?
I have been attending Nan Desu Kan in Denver Colorado since 2000, at first I had felt almost welcome and happy to be there. I met many people who became good friends and life long connections.

These connections were great for a long time, until something has changed to cause a horrible feeling of dislike and being unwanted. Since 2006, I have felt like NDK and many of the people working staff have attempted to run certain people out of the convention. This started with a friend back in 2004 who was being bullied and also mistreated. He was accused of something he didn't do, in fact he was with me when the said incident occurred, the only time he was alone was when I had to go to the restroom. He was sitting on a chair by the bathroom waiting for me. I came out, and we went on our way.

When I defended him, there were witnesses who did see us together and did not vouch, in fact I had the clear thought they were attempting to use him as a scapegoat.

2005, he was accused yet again, his badge was punched, he was simply sitting down talking to someone, one of my friends, and security punched his badge for something he couldn't' have done because he was not even asking anyone out.

2006, I started to have trouble with the staff regarding meet ups and also some comments that were taken out on me. I voiced nothing and just continued not to assist anymore information on friends or defend people who I knew were being wrongfully accused.

2007, met a few problems, mostly with staff wanting to keep people they viewed as trouble makers out of their convention. I ran my panel on Japanese mythology and somehow it became a huge hit. Many people were in attendance even convention staff who enjoyed the panels.

2008, second year the panel was running and many people arrived to see it, they enjoyed it very much. It was the second time running it and it was seconded and heralded better than the year before.

2009: Sage Robinson and Lee joined, he started out in the co-panelist slot and helped run back up information, Lee ran as backup and tehcnologically inclined, we started our first Mythology After Dark program which was expressing the darker and more adult talks. This was again still in planning and should not have been brought up until 2010.

2010: Sage was replaced with Marc and my fiance, Lee who started to run some of the information and also we started the first Vampires of Anime panel regarding what was considered the first ever full length discussion on vampire mythology and Japanese views on the creatures.

The panels from how I see it were embodiment of who and how I acted amongst many as part of my love for keeping anime. Now that I can't run these, I'm almost at a loss as to what I should do and how things should run.
