Valentines Story~
Headquaters was rather alive for a monday morning. The normal hum drum, drawn out sighs were gone. Replaced by rather happy go lucky people. They were in fact cheery, instead of for lack of a better word rabbid. Normally asking someone for help on a Monday was suicide. They would light you on fire in front of them just to watch you burn. Serves you right thinking they would help on a Monday. Just from the look in their eyes, one knew they were dead. Today was just down right scary though. Standing in the middle of it all was Ryuu and Sera. Both shivering from the eight of everyone they knew acting so different. So nice.
“Are they sick?”
Sera squeaked out. One of her smaller hands reached out for Ryuu's to cling tightly to it.
“They must be. It's the only thing that could explain everyone so nice and happy at eight in the morning.”
Ryuu took a step closer, just as the two started to noticed eyes on them. Another squeak escaped Sera as she saw from the back of one group a rather large women walking towards them. If that was what you would call it. Her name was Big Martha and she fit her name in more ways then one. Her arms were huge from the constent working out. She towered over Ryuu and Sera. With the body of a body builder. She had short brown hair and pale colored skin. Chocolate colored eyes. She was in charge of the security at headquaters. Normally she only wore black cargo pants with them tucked into combat boots. A tank top that showed off her muscles and pecks. Cause no on that size had breasts. Not with her work out.
“Ryuu....its coming this way....”
Ryuu had no choice but to look. Finding that he would rather face a hundred level four akuma then deal with Big Martha. She only talked to you when you know you were in some serious trouble. Yet Ryuu could think of no prank he had done so far to warrant her attention. But once she was in full view he was stunned to see her in what appeared to be a dress. A deep shade of blue, it fell to just above her knees. Showing off her muscular legs and heels. It was a wonder how she found any in her size. Her hair was curled and she even had makeup on. One could easily see she had no clue how to use it though. She stopped just in front of the two and batted her eye lashes.
“Ryuu so good to see you. I hope your doing well.”
Her voice was deep. How the hell was she a women it was a mystry. But Ryuu took into account like everyone else she seemed to be acting weird too. After all she asked how he was doing instead of telling him how puny he was.
“Your happy...to see....me? Umm yeah doing great....me and Sera we gotta...uhhh train. Right Sera train!”
Sera bobbed her head up and down yet Martha was still looking at Ryuu. Poor Ryuu felt like a soon to be dinner under her gaze. Flexing a bit of her leg mucles she batted her eyes again.
“Oh I don't want to keep you. Just wondering if you had plans in a couple of days.”
Ryuu's mouth opened at her question. There was no way he was training with her. She would break him into a million pieces. Shaking his head yes quickly he suttered out an answer.
“Yep tons busy I got training with Sera all week. You know she needs allot of help.”
Sera could only bob her head up and down. To scared to be eaten by the monster of a women. Martha almost looked hurt. Opening her mouth to make a reply, Eri's voice filled the common room.
“Don't people work around here. It doesnt matter that Valentines day is coming up. We still have people out there that need us doing our job, not giving chocolates out to one another.”
Martha glared at Eri who stared right back. Eri was the only one she could not intimidate and it was a wonder why. But Eri grabbed Ryuu's arm and yanked him back making sure to keep her eyes on Martha as she did.
“You both get your butts to the training room. I will be there shortly. Looks like Martha needs to talk to me.”
Eri was a bit off like everyone else. Yet it seemed more like something was bothering her then her being overly happy like everyone else. Ryuu and Sera nodded their head and ran towards the training ward. They reached it in less then ten minutes a new record for both. Collasping to the floor the two lay breathing heavy for the span of a few minutes. Sera was the first to break the silence.
“I have read about Valentines day. It's the day you confess your love for some one if Im right. Does this mean your finally gonna tell Eri you love her?”
Rolling onto her stomach she watched as Ryuu rolled quickly. His hands on the floor like he was about to push up and into the ceiling.
“I So do not love Eri!”
He responded like a boy in the third grade who got caught by his friends. Sera grinned and waved her finger at him making a tsk sound.
“Liar liar pants on fire!”
Ryuu's cheeks flushed bright red as he watched her call him a liar. Sticking his tounge out at her like the mature thing to do he shook his head no. Sera was far from letting this die. Jumping onto her feet she began to skip around the room singing.
“Eri and Ryuu sitting in a tree. K.I.S.S.I.N.G....first comes love then comes marriage....”
Sera didnt get tot finish the song as Ryuu caught her up and shook her just a little which only made her laugh.
“I Do Not Like Eri Like That!”
His cheeks were bright red, his heart beating mad. And Sera danging her feet was laughing even harder. The two though stopped dead when they heard some one clear their throat. Both turned their headsd slowly to see Eri standing in the door way. Ryuu felt the color drain from his face.
“Good to know Ryuu. You two seem to have everything down. I think I will go study for the time being.”
Eri turned around quickly and walked off, leaving Ryuu to crumple to the floor with a long drawn out sigh. Sera knew her playing had went to far. Placing a hand on his shoulder she leaned over. There were times when one could forget that Sera was alittle girl.
“You know I don't understand much about adults. But when you dont look she looks at you and you do the same to her. Your more then just the best team I have ever seen. How long will you two run away from this? The day you finally make a move might be a day to late Ryuu.”
Sera patted his shoulder and took a seat next to him. Ryuu sat cross legged. Glancing to Sera from the corner of his eye.
“What if the step I want she doesnt and your wrong. I could loose my best friend by taking a step to far.”
Sera leaned back on her hands. Crossing her ankles to look up at the ceiling. She was quiet for a moment.
“I have not lived many years. But even I know life is short. If you dont take chances you will never learn. You should never have to live with regrets Ryuu. You know that. And in our line of work, tomorrow could be your last day. She should know. Outside by the big oak on the first low hanging branch.”
ryuu smiled and reached over to ruffle her pink hair. She giggled in reaction and shoved his hand away. Pushing to his feet he left Sera to the training room and followed her instrctions. Sure enough she was right. Eri was sitting in the tree. One foot hanging down. In her mouth were pocky sticks and a book was open before her.
“So this is where you hide.”
Ryuu whispered next to her. Scaring her enough she slipped but his arms wrapped about her to keep her from falling.
“What are you doing here, your suppose to be training with Sera.”
She didn't turn to him. Almost as if she was hidding something. Ryuu though never removed his arm from around her. He didn't appear it but Ryuu was rather strong. He was able to slide up behind her and blance them both at the same time. Eri's cheeks had flushed a bright red at the sudden closeness.
“There was something more important for me to do. Eri I'm sorry you walked in on that...”
Eri cut him off quickly. She didn't want to remember what he had said. It had hurt her more then she thought it would.
“It doesnt matter.....”
ryuu pulled her right against him. She could feel his heart beat as it was beating as quickly as hers. His chin rested on her shoulder as he other arm came around to hold her to him.
“It does matter cause you matter to me. Eri I don't know what I would do if I lost you.”
He whispered against her neck. Butterflies erupted in her stomach as she felt her heart skip a beat when his lips brushed her neck in the barest of touches. Her mind went blank. Was he saying he wanted more. Did he feel the same as she. Was this just another dream.
“Ryuu....”
He wasnt done. He would do it this time. He would tell her everything he had felt for weeks. How he loved that smile she only gave him. The way she always cared. That sparkle in her eyes when he did something that made her happy. No one knew him like her. They had been partners for so long there was no other women he wanted at his back.
“Eri....please..be my Valentine. Give me a chance to show you how I really feel.”
All the air left her lungs as she felt her body moving on its own accord. Turning around on the tree branch she felt his stregth when he kept her balance. Legs over one side she looked into the miss matched eyes. Those same eyes she fell for so long ago. One of her hands lifted to brush his cheek tenderly. How many times had she wished for this. Longed for him to hold her like she was the only one in the world. Their eyes were locked. Words would do no good hear. Leaning in slowly she touched her lips to his. Feeling him stiffin unsure if he should touch hers back. But he did. Leaning into the kiss as well.
His arms came around her. Holding her tightly to him as they shared their first real kiss. Almost completely hidden by the trees. It looked like this Valentines day would be the start of many things.
Back at headquaters Sera turned to a group of Scientists with her hand out.
“Aright pay up, I told you they liked each other.”
Grumbled could be heard as each one took a stack of cash and slapped it into her tiny hand. Each time she flashed a smile and said thank you. Mind you she loved them both but fast cash always came in handy. Behind the group big Martha was weeping.
“Oh Ryuu I loved you too...”
Her wails were loud as they shook the walls. Four women trying to calm her down. Sera just shook her head and jumped off the stool she had been sitting on. Walking happily back to her room all the while counting her cash.
“Thank god they finally got together. It almost cost me thats for sure.”
