Warning: I am tired and did not edit or proof read this at all, so if it is bad I am sorry. But help me out and point out the bad bits and help me out. I like to write I am just not that good at it yet, maybe when I hit thirty I will be better.
This is "Read at your own risk" or simply RaYOR
I have been thinking, what is my next step. Do I just keep flowing in the stream and let fates currents take me or do I start forging my destiny my self.
What do I have to lose at the point no matter what I choose, I come out on top, I am getting out of the military (Medically or so it seems), I will get free healthcare and a pay check for the rest of my life. I am set, Plus when I am out my Father is gonna let me run a gaming/anime/movie store with my best friend. The only way this could get better is if I got magic powers. There is another thing, but I will not jinx it but I am happy non the less.
Oh it is rant time, for something that angers me mildly. Bad stories in games, now I know others most likely write a better critic then I do but if you are reading this, why I do not know =P, then you get a big fat helping of my opinion. Yes it changes if I get better data on subjects or I hear a good argument (has to be well thought out and intelligent if it is an argument.) just a heads up before I ever say something one way then it changes down the line. (Focus) Bad stories in games, I have played A Lot of different games, from action to Zanga, I have played many, but I hold a soft spot for RPG's (It is why I love BioWear) Most RPG's have some good story and this makes me happy, I have played shooter. (Face palm) Guess which one I play more, and which one I like. What I read today angered me, some one posted "story does not mean a thing in game, games are only meant to be fun." I see a little on were he is coming from, but not that far off in the past. I would have agreed when I got my first genesis, (when I was 5) but not now.
The person who said this said, "games are advanced enough that all you need is for the game to be fun, stories were for when games looked like crap and that was how you padded it out." I paused here thinking no one is gonna buy this crap. I read what other people were writing then, thinking I was gonna see some flames. I did not, people were agreeing with him, I could not think this was possible, no way no sir. More people wrote more agreed I stopped reading and hated most people a little more.
My opinion, a story in a game is a treasure when you have a motivation a purpose for killing something, or God forbid saving some one or helping something with no killing (I know it does not sell as well), it drives me to complete the game. The better the story the more I play and the more I explore. This make me happy and allows me to enjoy the experience more rather than going through the motions. I played alot of games I went autopilot on and do not recall anything I like about it because... I was going through the motions. No story no motivation, muti-player does not make a game I do not care what people say to this one.
Before it is said I do enjoy muti player alot, but that is not the whole game unless it is an MMO, even then there is story, Case and point Wrath of the Lich King (World of Warcraft) it had a story, not a bad one either you know the guys M.O. he is a bad guy who steals you souls blah blah blah. There is more to that, there are books dedicated to it and they are not bad. Plus the idea people know alot of back story to the game does not hurt it at all, and well look at the numbers in it. I need no more explanation.
There is more thought here and better writing but I have not slept in over 24 hours and I just do not want to edit right now, maybe in the future if I can. Trust me when I say later there will be good editing, and better more fleshed out... Every thing but still this is mostly for me, if you read it that is your own fault.
Thank you though for reading, comment and hell, point out every grammar, spelling, and punctuation error. I was never good with that stuff in school, and I need work on it not. Thank you again.
The next one will sound more intelligent I swear
