Zelda-chan, behind the controller
A place for my gaming experiences, mostly. Please be warned that spoilers may follow in listings. It may not be updated often since I'm a full-time college student. I tend to play RPGs, but I've dabbled in the other genres. Hopefully this'll be neat
Dissidia & birthday perks
Hello! Today is my birthday. ^_^ You know what that means? Yep. I went and talked to all of the guests I currently have staying at the Quester's Rest. Most, if not all, gave me some sort of a present. Basically, it was a piece of equipment that would let me dress up one of my DQIX characters as them and a party popper or cake. It was during this trip that I decided it would be much nicer if everyone was on the same floor and I just had to go door to door. At least, I think it would be more efficient. Who knows? It was a nice little addition to the game, though. I don't know if there are many games out there that do something nice for your on your birthday. Wait... is my drop rate supposed to be better today too? Hm... Might have to check that out.

I've been playing a copy of Dissidia that I borrowed from my younger brother. I like the game. It can get really crazy during some of the battles, though. I'm still learning some of the controls. Yes, button mashing has occurred. I haven't tried the other mode they have. I remember reading in one of the little tips that they had a different mode for people who weren't into the running around, dodging, hitting, etc. mode. I kinda like the running around. I haven't beaten it yet, but I think I might be getting close. Having the completion % for each character's story mode is getting to the perfectionist in me. I will totally be wanting to get 100% for everyone. When I first started playing, I went with Cecil's story (especially since my husband had just gotten me IV Complete... which I do need to play... sweatdrop ). I have played IV before (and beaten it!). Even so, I did a little, "Wow! They totally started out with that? No spoiler alert? Wonder if anyone wasn't in the know? Eh, it's been a while. I mean, this game was out on the SNES. It's neat that they're using that relationship." Of course, this did make me go, "Wait... I haven't beaten II yet. Is playing Firion's story going to spoil anything for me? Eh, I'm close to the end of that game anyway. It might just be the push I need to pop it in and beat it."

I love that you can earn PP and use it to buy neat things in the PP catalog. I had forgotten how things were before you paid for DLC. I mean, I wonder if I'd have to shell out $0.99 now to get the ability to unlock a set of cute icons or other playable characters instead of 190-1000 PP. I am currently trying to get all the icons. They make me happy for some reason. I doubt many people are still playing this and that I would really be able to pass out my friend card or so (or that I would even if people were still playing this one...), but I think it's great that I can have a cute white mage or any of the chars from the first ten FFs as my friend card icon. Oh! And the moogle letters. That's so much fun too. And I <3 the chocobos. Hearing the fat chocobo's kweh made me smile. I'm enjoying this game, even though I have wanted to punt a couple of ridiculously difficult manikins after I've had to retry a battle 5 or so times. I wonder if that means I'll really enjoy 012.

Found another pronunciation I did a head tilt over. Zidane = Zih- dahn. I've always said Zih-dayn. Just seemed interesting to me. Was surprised by Cloud's voice. I never saw Advent Children in English, so I don't know if any of the voices sound the same as they do in that. He just seemed a little more... country? than I was expecting. It's not a bad voice, but you know how it is when you have a certain picture of someone in your head only to have it not exactly match up in the end. I am looking forward to when I can finally unlock Shantotto. Taru tarus rock. Heh. Maybe I should ask my brothers to get me 012 as a birthday present. We'll see. I have a feeling there's still a lot left for me to do. I mean, I have so many accomplishments still to... accomplish. (ha ha)

Before I started playing Dissidia, I had been playing an SRPG on the DS. Laevatein Hero Tactics was the title, if memory serves. I like the game. Hadn't played a strategy game in a while. It's a nice mesh of some games I had played in the past. A part of me wants to say Luminous Arc, but it's been a while since I've played it and... well... my memory isn't always too good. heh. Now, on the surface it seemed like it might be very FF Tactics-y. Then I ran up to my first enemy. It went to another screen with me on one side and my foe on the other with two rows of soldiers before each of us. That made me think Dragon Force. I got to select my formation/attack style and who I would focus on. The soldiers didn't run at each other like in DF, though. We slashed the air and did damage that way. The mixture of different languages is a nice touch. It might bother some people, though. I remember some of the dialect written speech bubbles in DQIV driving me batty. I had to read aloud sometimes to be able to get through them (which was kinda fun). I'm interested in seeing if we get to see Val's face. I'm also wondering if the main character will wind up stealing Diana away from his big brother. It might not happen like that. He could wind up with Val. Still, I'm one of those people that starts to ponder what turns the story may take.

Well, I think that's all I have to share for now. Hopefully, I will have beaten a game by the next entry. heh. Maybe that will be what the next entry will commemorate, my having beaten a game. Golden Sun The Lost Age has been on the back burner, but it could make a come back. Toys R Us is passing out Pokemon eggs as an event, so I might get further in Pokemon White than I currently am. There's no telling what game I'll feel compelled to play next. I mean, I was so excited to start Pokemon White, but that excitement fizzled after a while. Not sure exactly why. Anyone else excited to hear about the Tales of the Abyss 3DS game? I haven't read the full article yet nor do I own a 3DS. I just remember really liking the characters when I watched various members of my family play it. Goodness me, I still have quite a few in the Tales series I need to complete. <sigh> One day, Zels. One day.
