Well Mondays throughout our existance have always been known to suck but today it was an even suckier (my gosh is that even a word? stare ) Monday than ever. Today in my first period I had found out that my A.P Economic and suppose to be A.P Principles of Democracy teacher, Mr. DeGroff, had just passed away last weekend. He has been sick and he went to the hospital before the end of first semester and he wasn't going to be coming back for the rest of the year because the doctors wanted him to stay at home for a while. So another teacher, Mrs. Lacy (who is totally awesome and a good friend of Mr. DeGroff) had taken over our classes for the reminder of the year. For a while he was doing fine but than I just found out during 1st period this morning that he had passed away on either Friday and Saturday. I just couldn't believe it but it wasn't until I signed a card for his family that was being passed around that I realized that it really was true. Mr. DeGroff was such a great teacher and he has been through a lot in his life. When he was around his mid 20s he had been diagnosed with cancer and had almost died at the age of 28. He was able to survive and actually get rid of it but than a couple of years later the doctors thought that he had lung cancer so they had done kimotheriepy ( I know I didn't spell that right) on his chest but later on he found out that he didn't have lung cancer but the kimotheripy had damanged his lungs so that they wouldn't fuction properly for the rest of his life. But through so many hardships he still continued to teach at our school and is always happy to be with us and share his stories with us and I am very happy to have had him for a teacher even though it was only for a semester. So I just wanted to take this time to reflect on what a wonderful teacher and human being that he was and that we are all going to miss him. For those reading this please just send a little prayer for him and hope that he is in a better place. biggrin Thanks for your time, I know that I haven't written in a while but I felt that this was a time that I needed to write about this. Well until my next entry (which I can guarantee to be a happy one cause I'm not a depressed kind of person wink )....NIKORI OUT!!!! xd
