This morning around 5 I was awoken by the sound of something scurrying above my ceiling fan. I wasn't scared if it was a rat or mouse, because they can see reason and get scared and run away easily. But if it was a centipede... Ugh, I don't want to think about it. I got my Mom to come in and she told me to turn off the fan. The sounds stopped. It was just the fan after all... I somehow fell back asleep because I didn't sleep well from when I first fell asleep to 4:50. I woke up, ate.
We went kayaking that morning, I nearly broke a finger. Sat in the sun, burned. went back upstairs. Showered, cooled off. Peeled some. (My skin is peeling, and I DID put aloe on it. The BEST aloe. Waikiki aloe.) Ate lunch.
Then we went out to these two bead stores that were right nearby, right in Kihei. In the first one, although everything was pretty and the glass beads were handmade and had many things I liked and alot of cute shapes, I didnt see anything I could use for my kanzashi hairstick. Not in reasonable size, anyhow. (The only one I have has beads that are falling off so I'm going to replace the bottom segment with another charm. A heart, preferably.) The other store we went to was much better. They were just moving in from another location in the same shopping center and had yet to settle down. I saw many necklaces whose styles I recognized. I hadn't realized that so many were wholesale! SO many that I liked. Then my eyes fell upon this bin with little bagged cards with little heart earrings in them. The beads on them were PERFECT. I could easily separate the sterling silver ear wires and re-use them for something else, remove the middle segment, and use the final segment with the heart for my stick. Two dangleys on the stick, two dangley earrings. But... My heart fell when I saw they were 20 bucks. I needed 30 bucks for the kanzashi sticks I was going to buy from Etsy and at least 13 for my phone bill, and then some for other things (I only had 50 left.)... I made a promise that I would buy them anyhow, because I didn't think I'd get a chance like it again. I brought it to the cash register, and the lady said. "Oh, this broken. I give you for 6 dolla." And I was THRILLED. She offered to fix it for me, I politely declined.
It made my day. I'll fix the stick as soon as we get home.
We went out to dinner at Oceans, this nice rustic little bar, pool hall, and mini stage for live music. We thought the service would be bad. It was a little dirty, there was no carpeting on the floor, no windows. But the bathrooms were clean and neat, the service was very friendly and polite, and the food... Oh, the food. It wins my seal of ME GUSTA approval.
We had gelato for dessert at Ono Gelato and went back here.
Just a few minutes ago, there was another fireworks show. 3 fireworks shows in one month...
This time, I felt a bit hopeful...
