Aimi walked out the door of her small house. She was hoping to just have a normal, happy day at the beach. She walked down the sidewalk through town, avoiding anyone that looked like they might want to speak to her. When she was passing past a group of girls she pulled her hood up, tucked her black hair in, and ducked past each one carefully. She wanted to spend her whole day at the beach, even if she had to kill every person in town to do it.
She finally reached the beach and headed down to find her a small spot to camp out. All she had with her was a bright red and blue beach towel her grandma had given her the summer before she died. Aimi laid the towel out and began to take her shirt and shorts off, setting them neatly on the towel. After she was ready for the water she headed over to the pier and sat down on the side of it, dangling her feet in the water. The water was brisk and cold, a feeling that had aluded her for far too long. This part of town was so hot all year that the water never seemed to get much cooler, so no one had to worry about being cold.
"This is the best day of the year, the day the wind blows and the water is cold. Nothing is going to mess this u-" She was interupted by the sound of a baby crying. This was no ordinary baby, this was the neighbors baby. The neighbor who had the cute sun that Aimi had a huge crush on. This was bad, this was real bad. She was so nervous now she wished she had never taken her clothes off. She was not an overweight girl, she was just like every other teenager, self concious.
She was watching him out of the corners of her eyes, too scared to look straight at him. She wanted this to go perfectly, but she was so nervous. She smiled to herself and tilted her head the opposite way to not seem too interested in him. Then she heard it, the voice that sang like angels.
"Hey, Aimi. It's nice to see you around the beach. I like the new suit too." She turned around to face the most amazing boy she had ever known.
"Oh. Hey, Ace. It's great to see you here as well. Oh, this? Thanks, I think it's cute too." She blushed before she spoke again. Then he interupted her, and what he said made her blush even more.
"It looks wonderful on your body. I mean.... on you." Neither of them knew what to say at that point. After talking a little while longer Ace's mom was calling him to come back and play with his little sister. He hugged Aimi and told her they would have to hang out some more soon. This time it would have to be before the next day they were both convienently somewhere.
She got up and headed toward the water. She was so excited about going to swim, but then the life guard called for everyone to get out of the water. Aimi turned toward him, "Why? Why get out of the water?" She turned around and behind her a huge storm had built up and was ready to drop the bottom out on everyone that was there. She headed to the beach and grabbed the clothes and towel she had left there. She grumbled her way back to her house, filled with despair and sadness. She couldn't believe that she spent her whole day avoiding people and trying to get to the beach to swim then had to go home because of the storm.
Aimi reached the house and there sat an envelope with her name written perfectly on the front. She picked up the envelope and headed into the house. "This letter had better make up for my entire day. " She reached her room and got back into her regular clothes. She sat down on the edge of her bed and tore open the letter.
"Dear Aimi, It was wonderful to see you at the beach today. I couldn't keep my eyes off of you in that beautiful swimsuit. I think that you are absolutely gorgeous and I feel I have fallen for you. I wanted to tell you that for so many years, but I had no idea how you felt about me. Tomorrow night I have a dinner reserved for us at a restaurant downtown. I would love to pick you up around eight so that we could go enjoy dinner. Sincerly yours and only yours, Ace."
When Aimi read that her eyes teared up and she fell back on the bed, "This definetly made up for my day. Completely."
