A Touch of History
This will mostly contain history stuff.

* There has been a terrorist bombing in Delhi at the high court, with at least dead and many more wounded. Not much in the way of detail was forthcoming as I wrote this.

* There were two bombings in Pakistan. Twenty dead and many more wounded, likely from al Qaeda in retaliation for arrests.

* Qaddafi may have escaped through Niger. Time will tell.

* There is fighting in Sudan, as people stranded north of the new border with South Sudan are continuing to fight the government. This is depressing. It was hoped the partitioning would end the fighting.

* The jury deadlocked on the Brandon McInerney trial as to whether it was murder or manslaughter, despite all the proof of premeditation, because it's pretty much okay to kill LGBT youth. ******** gay panic defense.

* This happened in Canada: http://www.sparkindarkness.com/2011/09/slurs-return-to-airwaves.html

* People keep dieing and losing their homes in Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana, which is good news for Republicans who have stated out loud their plans to hold up FEMA funding for disaster victims to force more concessions from spineless democrats.

* The Texas fires are in part so disastrous because Governor Perry slashed funding for fire fighting. After all, what are the chances of their ever being a drought in Texas in Summer. they are begging retired and laid off firefighters to buy their own equipment and fight the fires at their own expense. After all, tax breaks for the rich are way more important than preparing for routine disasters that happen nearly every year. This is the philosophy he hopes to bring to the Presidency.

* Republicans in the House are responding to the massive famine in the horn of Africa by moving to cut emergency food assistance by 75%. After all, the corporations that are already paying little or nothing in the way of taxes need even bigger tax cuts, and it's only humans starving, not corporations.

* I watched Buddy Roemer on the Daily Show tonight and he seemed to me like a Republican from my father's time. How delightfully old fashioned to see a Republican against big money corruption in the political process and in favour of real small business, and who thinks humans are people and corporations aren't. No wonder they are all ignoring him. He's at least a generation behind the times. He's like the Republican time forgot. Land of the Lost Republican? Remembrance of Republicans Perdu?

* I got my first poll for the November election this evening. It was about the liquor initiative I oppose. The state stores actually make money the budget needs and it's harder for underage folks to get their hands on the hard liquor. I noticed my first associated ad tonight.

I get polled a lot and one of my hobbies is guessing who funded the polling from the slant of the questions. More than half are out right push pulls, usually by Republicans. What amazed me is the neutrality of this poll and the inclusion of open ended questions. They actually asked me to give in my own words the reasons I was planning to vote the way I was. O.o

* LM has started yet another campaign to improve her ranking in clowder hierarchy by starting fights at the feeding stations. This is making her extremely unpopular, sigh.

* I went to this college. The school colours are ugly and the football team sucked funding from the rest of the sports programs. Do not start me on the ugly sexism in the female coach compensation and the way men's secondary sports were pitted against women's sports for what was left of the money. Anyway, it looks like they've been experimenting with really ugly uniforms: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/825640-top-10-worst-oregon-duck-uniform-combinations-of-all-time

* The more I think about it, the more I think True Blood would be vastly improved if they'd just kill Sookie off. Then the interesting characters and storyline could move into the foreground rather than being background to the yawn of a love triangle and its annoying heroine.
