Vices & Virtues - Fundamentals
Vices + Virtues
----------

Vice and Virtue, while in opposition exploit the other's weakness perfectly, their relationship essentially follows the pattern of the Elements :: Darkness and Light. The stronger the one is, the greater the strength of its opposite while in weaker areas, the other becomes similarly weaker.

At their core however; Vice and Virtue both possess the objective truth from which they were spawned, a code of ethics that ride loosely on the laurels of honor.

Treachery

Is strictly forbidden, it is the greatest of all sins and neither the Daemon-kin or the Celestials praise its use, successful or otherwise. It is the only known common grounds Vice and Virtue share.
However; their mannerisms for dealing with this sin are distinctly different. A Celestial found guilty of Treachery is stripped of his/her power, rank and privileges before being cast down and forced into the service of the Immortal Reaper as messengers and slaves primarily.
A Daemon-kin found guilty of Treachery upon failure is condemned to the torments of a place known only as "The Abyss" a spacial eternity that resembles a barren moon, but is dimensionally altered to nine layers of suffering and torment that grow ever larger disproportionately as one goes deeper and deeper into the core.

Escape from the Abyss is impossible. One can only be freed from the place by Death's hand when / if your punishment is complete. Or by the power that sent you there, in most cases - a Daemon-kin's Overlord will send his Vassals to the Abyss.

Treachery's success is met with the Daemon-kin's only law outside of Treachery - Might equals right, if you are strong enough, by means of Brute Force, Tactical Knowledge, Numbers or Treachery to overthrow an Overlord, you gain their "Land" their "Netherworld" and rule it in their stead. Daemon-kin who have seized their respective Netherworlds through Treachery are usually short lived as they are distrusted and loathed for their act of shame and are usually quickly laid siege to by a coalition of neighboring Overlords and their Armies.
