Serene: To the General Public At Last
A few pieces of Ser's thoughts and life, which are carefully broken down from her life mosaic and preserved into this online journal. Read with care.
Mall and Gaga
I've pretty much been wasting my break by doing nothing and relaxing at home. But then... that's not too bad either, is it? I've been so busy that it's a blessing just to sit down, doing nothing, with nothing to worry about. Until now. *sigh* I still have a presentation to research.

But today I went to the mall. Shopping with my mom. We went to look at the shops that we had entered one thousand times before. Then we went to the food court and got pizza. My mom was talking about how she'd just love to move to Taiwan because the US is depressingly boring. Lately I have been listening a lot to Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga, and I thought of something. I asked my mom why she disliked Lady Gaga so much. She said that Lady Gaga was doing a lot of "bad things that are against the Bible". And then I asked her what the bad things were. She was being evasive and kept on repeating, "Just a lot of bad things!" Finally, she said that Lady Gaga's weird fashion was over the top, and Christians are supposed to be conservative. Then I reminded her that she was a star, and there is nothing wrong with eccentric fashion when your job is a performer. Then she said, "But Lady Gaga supports gay rights." What? That was why she kept on bashing Lady Gaga in front of me whenever I brought her up? I was blown back as she started going on in a mini rant about God choosing His people before they were born, and gay people just "weren't chosen"--that's why they give in to "evil and perverted things". And that gay people had a choice, and they choose to go against God. =.= I wish my mom was more open minded and liberal. When I asked her what was wrong with being gay, she just started pulling out verses instead of moral reasonings until she ran out, and then she told me in a firm voice, "Go ask your minister!" Last time, even my dad got a little scared when a gay parade marched by my family when we were waiting at a red and green light. e.e He said in a timid voice, "I think they're alright."

I am so sad that break is ending.
