Zack/ Becca Break-up Closure
Some time after he and Kelly have been together a while he's trying to build up strength in his leg again so he goes out swimming and on this day he's been swimming for hours and he comes onto the beach dripping wet and exhausted and he collapses in the sand where he lies to catch his breath with his eyes closed, the sun well past set on the horizon. Seeing a figure in the dark a young woman comes to greet her lover with a passionate kiss. She walks out onto the beach and kneels down besides him. Not having bothered to turn the lights on when she left the house she doesn't see his face as she presses her lips against his. Zack feels the kiss and right away begins to kiss back. His mind is filled with thoughts of pleasant surprise that Kelly would come and greet him like this. Something he expresses through a few whispered words against her lips. Suddenly, the trance is broken. The woman all but jumps back. "Kelly?!" she demands angrily. Zack sits up, opening his eyes for the first time, only to be met with the shock and horror of seeing a woman NOT Kelly at his side. "Becca?" The woman's eyes widen further as her sight finally adjusts. "Zack?!" The misunderstanding and embarrassment is shared equally between the two as they both desperately look around, praying no one else saw them. They see that they are alone and relax a bit knowing that their secret is safe between them, but the weight of knowing that they will have to tell their significant others about this is annoyingly prevalent between them. Also painfully obvious is the fact that Zack has all but forgotten about what he used to feel for Becca and has fallen completely for another woman, even accepting her child as his (despite the fact that he's not fond of children). This realization is surprisingly new to Becca, as if she's always known but has never really let it sink in before. Same with Zack as his feelings for the other woman have been once again proven themselves, this time over the most difficult of tests, the woman he'd been ready to marry. The two push past the awkwardness, addressing this subject and the subject of her engagement to Derick. It is the first time since their break-up that they are able to sit down and talk civilly between them about their new lovers and their former shared relationship. They have a deep heart to heart and each find the closer they lacked in their initial break-up (because of the fact that it hadn't really been a clean break, since they lived in the same house together.) So he goes out all day swimming and comes back on shore just as the sun is going down. He's exhausted, so lies down on the sand to catch his breath before going back into the house. Becca sees Zack, thinks it's Derick, and goes out and kisses him. Zack thinks it's Kelly and kisses back. He's surprised because Kelly is rarely so forward when it comes to their relationship. Usually he's the one initiating things. So he says something (I don't know what exactly lol) and says her name. Or maybe just her name. Something like "I love you, Kells." or you know, to that affect. Basically, He says her name. Becca, still thinking she's kissing Derick, is shocked to here the name of Derick's ex girlfriend coming out of his mouth in the middle of their kiss so she jumps back all upset that he's thinking about his ex girlfriend, and then realizes it's not Derick. It's Zack. Freak out moment inserted here, and then awkward silence follows. Becca breaks the silence with something like "So...Kelly, huh?" And Zack still feels embarrass and awkward also and he is kinda like "Yeah...." and the two kick off a conversation about how he's dating again and she's getting married. Both are a bit surprised that Zack feels nothing for Becca beyond a sister-friendship anymore (since it wasn't even a year ago that he wanted to marry her) and they talk about that too. It's just...a time for both of them to talk things out about their break up, get all their feelings out and say everything they never said before in an environment where it's not going to turn into a fight because they aren't angry or hurting anymore. The wounds have heals and they are forgiving each other. They share their feelings about the way things ended and about their new relationships and how happy they are. To get some closure and clean out the closet skeletons, so to speak. They never really got to experience that clean break up, so none of this would have been able to come out before. This is a time for them to settle things so they can truly move forward on their separate paths with a clean slate.
