What happened to Gaia?
What happened to Gaia? I've been on this web site for the last four years and I keep noticing there's less and less people on here. When I first made my profile, there were easily 50,000 of us on here everyday. It was like that for the first six months. Then the numbers started going lower. Now there's only 15,000 of us a day.
But when you think about it, 15,000 is a large number. 15,000 of us doing something here on this website. Can't think of that number? Take this as an example: Would you rather have $10,000 in your bank account or $15,000? You would want $15,000 easily said. Think about all the things you could buy with it. Now, would you rather have $15,000 or $50,000? Anyone smart would say $50,000. Now think about all the stuff you can buy with $50,000 compared to $15,000. You could buy a new car if you wanted to... or buy three new cars!
This concept is the same to the people who run and own Gaia. They would rather have 50,000 of us running around here on their web site. They would get paid more. Why? Because Gaia is free to run on, but it's run on ads. That's why we always see movie trailers, or car ads. They pay to be on the web site so that we can see them so we can click on them and buy their junk. So if there's more of us around, the more ads want to be here. Why do you think Facebook is still free? There's billions of us there. And if you had an ad, you would want it there, but it would be pricey.
The fact that Gaia still does updates is surprising because there's a small number of us. But my question is what happened to Gaia. The only thing I can remember of them doing is doing a change to "My Gaia" tab, and adding more games and more places for our avatar to hang out. But they made those changes because they were giving us what we wanted. So, if Gaia changed for the better, and people left, so what happened to us?
I for one never really liked or cared about anime or manga because there's so much of it and I can never keep up. Is that it? People stopped liking anime? Or is it because we're getting older now and don't have the time to check our Gaia? That seems to be the problem with my friends. Either school gets in the way, or their parents say no more. Or they decided to stop checking Gaia all together.
Now I'm not saying we should all quit Gaia all together, or try to spread the word and make it more popular. I'll let you take care of that part, because as long as there's people here, I will come and dork around with them.
