Okay, so my parents are gone until tomorrow morning, and I was at my neighbor's house. His girlfriend got there and we decided to go get icecream. Since my parents were out of town, and my dad's Toyota Hybrid Prius was in the garage and I happened to know where the keys were, we decided to take that. I said I was driving and that was automatically illegal considering I get my license in June and none of us were 21... So we went to Coldstone's, got some icecream, and we were leaving the Deer Park shopping center. We were leaving the parking lot, and thus, this dialogue came into play:
Me: Okay, where the hell am I and how do I get out of here...
Devin: You seriously don't know where you are?
Me: I've never left from this way before!
Owen: Are you serious.
Devin: Have you like never left Barrington before?
Me: We're still IN Barrington and I told you, I've never left this way before!
Owen: Take a left on here and get in the right lane.
*I turn onto some unknown road*
Devin: Even though we're turning left...
Me: WAIT, WHAT?
*the car is swerving in between lanes*
Both Devin and Owen: GET IN THE RIGHT LANE!
Me: OKAY!
By now, I recognize the road to turn onto and it's Lake Cook.
Me: Don't I take a left here?
Owen: No, you go right.
Me: We go left.
Owen: No, seriously, we go right.
Me: ******** YOU. WE DO NOT GO RIGHT. I THINK I WOULD KNOW MY OWN PART OF TOWN.
Devin: No, you actually do go right.
Me: ...Godammit...!
*car veers right onto Lake Cook*
By now, we're driving on Lake Cook and I have NO IDEA where I am going...
Me: Where the hell are we?
Devin: You DON'T know where we are, are you serious?!
Me: Hey, there's a reason I don't have my license yet, I'm still learning!
Owen: Yeah, OKAY, you should know where we are by now and-
Me: -BUT I AM LEARNING, NOW DO I TURN HERE?
Devin: No, this is MY neighborhood!
Me: GODAMMIT!
Owen: Remind me to never give you instructions on MapQuest, you'd end up in the middle of a desert or something.
Me: Hahahahaha, yeah, that's ******** you.
By now, I finally go into a neighborhood that I recognize and know my way through, but we come onto a part where the road forks.
Owen and Devin: You take a left here!
Me: I can go straight, too!
Owen: But it's faster to go that way...
*I brake the car really fast*
Me: Now, do you WANT me to go my way, or do you want me to turn around and go LEFT?
Both Owen and Devin: No, this way's fine...
Me: Okay, let's go then.
*I start going again*
We finally got back to my house and I parked the car in the garage. We were going into the kitchen, but while we were still in the garage, this is what happened...
Me: Wait, I forgot my purse!
*I run back into the car and get it. We then progress inside.*
Me: Wait, I forgot to adjust the mirrors so my dad won't know I used his car!
*I run back into the garage and adjust the mirrors. I come back into the kitchen.*Owen: So are we ready to leave?
Devin: Yeah, I think so-
Me: WAIT, I FORGOT TO MOVE THE SEAT BACK!
*I sprint back to the garage and adjust the seat back, and AGAIN come back into the kitchen.*
Devin: *about to say something*
Me again: WAIT, I FORGOT TO LOCK THE CAR BACK!
*I run back to lock the car and for the last time, come into the kitchen.*
We finally left, but I must say, I think that is a display of how late night makes me stupid. Yup.
That was only ONE of the stupid moments that I had tonight. But in my defense, the Deer Park shopping center is a big place, and it was dark. Things look WAY different in the dark.
