Beware of the fangirl...The diary of a Gaian.
This is the diary of Dawna Celeste, just another ordinary Gaian...or is she?
What a narrow escape that was...
Yesterday I got a phone call from Cindy. "Get over to the station right now," she said as soon as I picked up the phone. "But... It's the weekend!" I protested, dreading what must be waiting for me. "That's just the point," she said enigmaticly. "Now get over here unless you want to get sacked..."
As I jogged toward Barton, my mind was filled with awful thoughts. I knew I was going to lose my job... Why had I let that fat old man goad me. I wasn't a lier...
Much to my surprise, the GAIA 9 building was almost deserted. I walked slowly to Cindy's office, wondering why she was going to fire me herself. After all, I had helped her with the camera... I knocked tenitively on the door. "Come in," came Cindy's voice from inside. I entered.
Cindy was alone in her office. "Sit down," she said, pushing a chair toward me. "By the way," she said as I sat down, "I'm not angry about you running off to the Cliffs."
I opened my mouth to try to explain, but she cut me off with, "I don't know how much of your story is true, and I don't care. It's none of my business it's not the station's either. It's not like you're a reporter...
What I'm angry about," she continued, "is the fact that you left without telling me. Did you forget about the camera? What would have happened if the Sniper had struck again while you were gone? The tape would have been overwritten before you got back!"
"But he didn't..." I began.
"That's not the point, it's that he could have!" Cindy continued, looking quite upset. "Do you want more blood to be spilt for nothing? Do you?"
"Sorry," I muttered, "it won't happen again..."
"All right," Cindy said in a much cheerier tone. "Now, do you feel like helping me some more?"
"Sure!" I said, wanting to make up for my carelessless. I had forgotten about the camera untill today...
Cindy handed me a box. I opened it and saw that it contained...a hard drive. "See if you can get into that," she said. "I've been trying for days but... I hope you're better at getting passwords then me."
"Wait a sec!" I said quickly. I didn't want to get involved in anything illegal! "What is on this thing?"
"I'm not sure, but it says it's the G-Corp database." Cindy was watching me closely. "If you don't want to, it's fine..."
"No, no, I'll be glad to!" I coulden't belive my luck. Knowing how bad G-Corp surcurity had been in the past, getting into the database should be a breeze.
It has not. I took the hard drive out of my computer (an old bit of jusk I got secondhand) and put the G-Corp one in its place, then spent the rest of the day trying to get in. No soap. After three trys, the password prompt locked me out for 24 hours, and all other attempts failed too.
I'm trying again today, hopefully I'll do better this time...
I can only imagine what's in there!
