She looked out across the campus, the heat shaking the bustling scene ahead. Groups of tightly-clad schoolgirls wavered as they cackled and screeched, clinging to the target of their affections, boyfriends, or just flings, who would no doubt be replaced within the week. She turned her sarcastic gaze toward other matters. Looking at those people made her teeth grind.
That Sunday had been an uplifting one for her. She listened to the pastor's speil about the scriptures, but for once it made sense to her. When her eyes lifted to the wooden rafters, she knew there were angels sitting there, smiling and nodding with ratification. She could almost feel them touching her shoulder as she sang the worship songs, trying to grasp the true meanings of the words. She was safe.
Yet it seemed insulting to reflect on such things in a place like this. Curses spewed out of her companions' throats as they sniggered at eachother's most recent distasteful joke. That's all they talked about now. She was ashamed to know that she participated in these rude puns. She wondered how many demons were clinging to her, wrapping their talons around her heart and mind.
Her gaze lifted to the sky. A clear, brilliant blue. She half-expected to see it swirling with black, scrawny monstrosities, fluttering around, searching for mischief. They would certainly have a hayday here. There still was a feeling she could not shake off. Somewhere in her mind, an echo bounced around her head.
'The darkness is here.'

Uh... heh... sweatdrop I've been reading This Present Darkness by Frank E. Peretti. It's such an amazing book, and has given me new insight on the power of prayer, and what might be going on in the battle between the angels and demons. Anywho... yeah... I just thought this up between classes today... yeah, I know I'm really weird. -_-;;
