But I finally got desperate enough to talk about something personal. I had seen Fox News @at Nine just an hour before (I was switching between it and the Simpsons) and the clip about the amendment proposal to the Senate caught my attention. It was an amendment to The Constitution banning homosexual marriage!!!! And when I heard I was horrified because I knew, whatever they decided, there was nothing I could do. I tried to forget about it, but letting it simmer for that hour must have been very unhealthy for me. This is what I posted....

Is there anything a teenager can do?
So yeah, so I was watching Fox 17 news and I heard that they (the U.S. government) are now trying to amend the constitution against homosexual marriage. Tell me if I'm getting this right, because I didn't watch the full program, but anyway...
You know, normally I would have more faith in our governing body. I would think, and I used to think, that they wouldn't do something so stupid as to amend the Constitution limiting the rights of others. Our Constitution was made to be changed so that we could progress in the development of liberty, not... not... be stupid. See? I can't even think. But living in Tennessee in the Bible Belt of the country... well, my patience is a bit strained. (And I just finished watching StarWarsIII too...)
I know it's pathetic to put this on a chat board, but I thought some of you might have had the same problem as me. I'm in highschool, I can't drive, I have no time and no means to make any difference in my country. But they are ruining the world, and there's nothing I can do! Are there any.. support groups or anything.

At the time I lacked that little quality people like to call confidence. I thought about posting this in the Extended Discussion forum. Then I thought about the people who might yell at me. Though it was fairly political, I found the topic more about me, my fears. So I posted it in the Life Issues subforum. Only two people replied before I decided to shove off and hand the internet over to my sister.
When I came back, I'd received a notice that my thread...

Do you hear that? My thread (the nature and level of it) was worthy of (better suited for) Extended Discussion! That's like the greatest compliment ever. I still don't think it belongs in Morality and Religion, but... Thank you! xd
So I revisited the thread, and more people had posted! What's more, they all had really interesting things to say that inspired thought (well my thought)! It was a joyful, confidence-building experience. Thanks very much to everyone that posted!
Some of the posts and my thoughts
I didn't want to revive the thread and ruin my happy feeling... So if anyone who posted there ever possibly visits this journal, here you go!

i think they should really realize that it isn't a bad thing. considering the population, it would be great if there were more gay couples that could marry. (i only say that because if a couple can't marry, they may break up eventually for the sadness of it). so, they would adopt. then there would be less orphans!
it's our circle of life. the human life is changing because of our population...

This gave me a really interesting idea. Maybe being homosexual is the next step in evolution! O.o Weird huh?
I heard that either the Greeks or the Romans (or maybe both) had what they called "soulmates" another person who completed you. Of course being two halves of a person, it made sense that they both needed to be of the same sex! They only had wives so that they could reproduce.

One of the main reasons it might not pass sadly is because of states rights instead of gay rights.
Yeah I know. I was upset when Tennessee banned it, but I thought at least... at least there was still a chance. If we could defend homosexual marriage on a national level, the states would have to follow.

The senate just does that stuff to please soccer moms and old repulicans. If they really tried that, lesbian porno stars would boycott. NO MORE GIRLS GONE WILD DVDs, lol. I doubt the male dominated congress would wnat that to happen. rofl
OMG, you're right! We have power in Hollywood! Although I doubt people will take us seriously backed by porn stars. But they do have a certain power don't they....?

hmm... I don't know.. I know how you feel tho..
I live in Australia. and no one wants to listen to a teenager....
I think they should leagalised gay marrages, becuse everyone has a right to choose even if we can't make too much of a difference.

Yeah, I figured non-Americans would see this since it's an international sight. And I was really interested in what they would think. I hate the idea that the world seems to hate America now (I don't know how true that it, but it was on Southpark xd ) and that the South is just racist bible country with hick states like Tennessee. I keep screaming in my head * scream It's Not True! It's Not My Fault!!!!! scream *
I'm glad you were able to empathize with me as a teen. I think our lack of political power gives us one power no one else has - to unify internationally without being judged on the actions of our native countries. It's fun! wink
Again thanx to everyone who posted!
