Heart on Fire
You've been a fool, been a clown.
Sometimes you can't tell up from down.
Despite everything that's happened to you,
Your heart has always beat true.
You wear a cloak of the blackest night,
In a vain attempt to disguise your light.
Though everyone always says how perfect you are,
The reality is that you've fallen so far.
You want to give up, you want to give in;
But I can't let you do that, my friend.
I can't stand by and let you fall.
I can't stand by as you sacrifice it all.
I won't lie to you, I'm not a hero,
I'm not a loser either nor a zero.
I'm not a martyr and heaven knows I'm not a saint.
I'm just a friend who's trying to save you before it's too late.
Before you make your way to your funeral pyre,
Show the world your heart before it disappears into the fire.
