people will complain it's human nature. They did so before and do it again. Personally I hate the layout, but still I know it will change and hopefully for the better.

I see PLENTY of hard work here. The new features, the Feature spotlights cover nearly everything, and that in itself is a pain to produce and organize. The way the admins produced an entire section to help the new gaians is brilliant. It helps the new people get introduced to Gaia, without the flames.

So, there's no perspective in that banner image? If there was no perspective...well, all the characters would be the same, which they aren't, since the characters in the front are larger than the ones in the back. It nicely incorporates the circular figure that borders it, with the tilting clouds and the characters lying on the border.

People have ALWAYS complained about EVERY LAYOUT. The amount that people have complained only grew because Gaia got new members. new members=more people who are likely to complain.

Well, I'd like to see you do better. I'll say it again. SELFISH. You don't even think about the other users, and how MAYBE just MAYBE it would help other users with less res. or slower internet connection.
They dumped this on us? We knew about this layout weeks in advance. Don't go around saying they just threw this out to the public when the public knew about this in advance.
How the hell can they 'consider' anything? They very well know gaians would like the new layout, and they knew that some Gaians wouldn't. Stop thinking that only your opinion counts in this matter, and that the admins should comply with only your standards.

The color for the Gaia logo matches the banner much more nicely. The banner has a sort of summer feel, thus orange would be an appropriate color to use.
It will probably change along with the banner, since Jakobo said it would. It changes with the seasons/storylines/etc! ZOMG. TEH PROOF.
I'll be updating this as I find more rebuttals.
Oh, and a thought you all might want in the back of your mind. They JUST RELEASED this layout. Of course there will be glitches, but within the next couple of days it should be fixed up.
