Good Phone Calls, Bad Phone Calls. |

From stressing out so much about getting the call back from Best Buy yesterday, I woke up pretty early for when I normally sleep in, and then just called the store around 11 o'clock. It took a little while to transfer to the Hiring Coordinator, but I eventually got to speak with Lonnie, (who I found out later it's actually spelled 'Loni') and we sort of discussed everything over the phone. I went through almost sort of a trial interview over the phone, and to be honest I'm glad it wasn't in person, because I definitely wasn't ready for some of the questions. She did however schedule me for an interview.
The only thing that was really a problem was at first she was sort of uneasy about my times to be open for work because of school, but I explained I was planning to change the times for like my Math courses and stuff and soon as all the unpaid students or dropouts were purged and there were more room for students afterward. Regardless, at first she was going to set me up for an on-site interview at 10 o 'clock tomorrow, but right when we were going to hang up, she changed her mind and asked if I could do 2. My mind processed the fact that Alexis's party was at 3, but this was a job interview, and it wouldn't look good if I tried to make a compromise, it'd look better if I just went along with it, so I quickly agreed and sighed to myself as I hung up the phone.
I went through the situation in my head, still trying to sound excited that I at least still got an interview, I would just have to find a way to contact Alexis and tell her I'd be late for the party, of course, distance and time wise that was the understatement of the century, but I'd bring a change of clothes or something and just change in the bathroom, make my way over there, and do my best to not be too late.
When I got downstairs to tell everyone the good news, the reactions were far from what I had expected. I don't even think my dad looked my way when I said it, looking back. It sounded like more of a grunt, I think Kelly said something, but it was more directed towards my dad. In fact, if I remember correctly, the only thing that you could call a response was more questions on the damn Student Aid crap. I told them about the form the lady said she would send because I was missing it, and my dad got it mixed up with that problem I had with registering for my classes. The stupid thing was, that the computer's about a week ago didn't have me in their database as a registered student, because of some stupid blank I had left in the web registration forms. Turns out, the only blank I had left out was "When did you become a Nevada Resident?" I thought that since I had checked an earlier question indicating that I was born in Nevada, that I could overlook that blank. Apparently, that was not the case, and it was stopping me from becoming a student.
After about 20 minutes of filling out another form to confirm all the stuff I had filled out on the internet, the lady re-did the form online, and got me in the database so I could add and drop classes and such. My dad got all this information mixed up, thinking it somehow had to do with my financial aid situation, which really pissed me off, because if he would listen to me for five seconds instead of always trying to take charge, maybe he wouldn't have gotten two completely different things mixed up. But of course he's hard-headed, and we almost got into a shouting match, so when I told him about the form I had to fill out that was on its way, Kelly went to go check the mail. Sure enough, it was there, so we started to fill it out, when I noticed a message that said once this was sent in, I had to allow another two weeks for my financial aid information to processed. Now I specifically remember speaking to the lady, and asking if the form she was sending me would delay my processing in any way, because I was afraid of it, my time was running out enough as it was. And she told me no.
So later, when I got on the phone, after being on hold for nearly a half and hour, the only thing the guy could do was bullshit me and dodge my questions as to why this b***h lied to me about it, and why the hell didn't I get this form way back when I had gotten all those other forms. I got the usual, "Oh, it's complicated, if you could come down here to the campus, we'll explain everything" load of crap, so I don't know anymore, worse case scenario, my parents will have to pay for my first semester, it's not a lot of money, they have a lot in the bank, I don't know where my dad is coming with this bullshit about how we can't pay for anything. It's because he's not looking into any jobs after the Stardust closes down, I bet.
All this nonsense was wearing me down, and it was barely noon, so I called up Kalen, told him the good news about Best Buy, and he invited me over. Since he still had the copy of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja on him, we decided to play it and unlock some people. Later, when we got hungry, we went out to Carl's Jr., and while we scarfed down some $6 Burgers, he gave me the low-down on how the interviews were going to go, and when I get the job, to watch out for some of the cashier people who are pretty, I can't remember the word, but not they're kind of shifty, he told me this story story about these employees who were running some type of magazine scam or something. Then, because we had nothing better to do, we saw PotC again, which was nice, it kept my mind away from other things. We came back to his house, played more Naruto, and around 11 Kalen decided to go to bed, he had work early in the morning. I told him when my interview was, and he said he'd probably be at work by then, so to look for him.
I hope he is there.
