Day One

I quickly opened the car door, and grabbed up my back-pack. I put one strap on, and was careful not to snag any of my auburn hair. I usually have curly, frizzy hair, but today I straightened it, and did the one thing I dared never do before, leave it out..without a hairband. Well, ok, I had the front tied back into a braid, but it was almost all the way out.
"See you later!" mom said as she smiled ear to ear. It wass't as if it was my first day of middle school! I was going to seventh grade, for the love of Mike!
"See ya, Mom," I replied, struggling to get my back-pack the rest of the way on, with all of my long hair.
"Have a good day! She waved frantically as dad began to drive our blue mini-van away. I love you!"
"Goodbye, mom." I began started walking towards the blacktop. It was about
9:07, three minutes until the first bell would ring. The blacktop was as crowded as ever. I looked around for a familiar face. Kelly was the first person I saw.
"Wow, Olivia!! Your hair is really long!!" Kelly was my obnoxious friend from sixth grade, she had never really liked me, she thought my and my friend were weird. Well, truth be told, we really are weird. Me and all my friends are. Atleast my real friends.
"Yeah, that's nice Kelly," I replied, standing on my tip-toes, skimming over the crowd of overly-excited students a head belonging to one of my friends. Finally, the crowd opened up a little, and I saw Larry. He was wearing a black shirt, and over it, a black button up shirt (that he never buttons up) with fire, and dragon designs. He must have seen me, too. We ran up and hugged eachother. We usually didn't hug eachother, but two months seem like a long time when they seperate two best friends. "I missed ya," said me, as I beemed.
"Wish I could say the same," he said jokingly. His hair was longer, and you could barely see that he still had a mohawk. But he looked great.
"Have you seen Erin?"
"I think she just finished breakfast," he pointed his thumb behind him, and then looked in another direction. As we walked away, I looked for Erin. She's one of my best friends...well, so was Larry, but me and Erin had been friends for a while longer.
I went to the door of the school, and looked at the posters with student's' names on them. I found my name: Torres, Olivia Room 144 Class F1.
I felt someone suddenly yank on my back-pack. "Hi, Olivia!"
I turned around to see Erin.
"Hey Erin, do you know your room number?" I wasn't as excited to see Erin, but that's only 'cause we'd seen and heard from eachother a lot during the summer.
"Drama room," she replied happily. Me and Erin met last year in drama. We've been best friends ever since. I met most of my good friends via drama, but this year I'll be taking Spanish. cry It's not that bad. Half of my familia speaks Spanish. Plus high school credits, better jobs, all that jazz.
"Have you seen Razi?" Razi is this boy in the eigth grade who I really like. I met him in chorus when I was in sixth grade, and he was in seventh, and then we both auditioned for the play Greese, and got the parts we wanted. Doody and Frenchy. And they just happen to end up liking eachother in the end. sweatdrop Through those few months of rehearsals, in addition to making a bundle of great friends, like James, Tia, Katie, Isaac, and some others, I actually ended up liking Razi. A lot. But if you spent that much time with a smart, friendly, and extremely funny guy, would't you start to like him, too? He's not like a boyfriend or something, I'm not a girly girl, in fact, I'm a tomboi, but we'll get into that later. I've missed Razi a lot, and that's almost all I could focus on almost all summer break. Erin and Larry, and Larry's younger brother, Matt were also in Greese, and that's pretty much all of my really good friends. But I hadn't really met my class-mate pepes yet. Anyway, Erin told me she hadn't seen Razi. She knows I like him. Then the bell rang.
A thousand students rushed toward the entrance, all trying to sqeeze in before the next. The luckier ones were at the front, like me and Erin, but It's still a challenge. There wasn't much air circulation in the hallways to cool the sweaty students. And let me tell you, standing on a black top, surrounded by hundreds of sweaty teens under the hot summertime Florida sun is not a passtime in which you wouldn't want a bit of ac to cool you off afterwards.
The Spanish room was all the way at the end of the 100s' Hallway. The 100s' Hallway's air conditioning wasn't working. Sigh.

My Spanish teacher is Ms. Ruiz. Me and a whole lotta other teens were showered with a bunch of first-day rules that I knew we'd all heard before. But besides that, I liked Ms. Ruiz. She definately seemed nice, if nothing else...

The rest of my teachers, were well, you know, standard. as the day passed os so slowly, and I satthrogh the endless lists of rules, and met my teachers, people began to kids began to notice me, unlike last year. I figured that this was gonna be a good year. Ms. Thomas seemed, strict, but nice. She teaches Geography class. I think I might enjoy this class, but who knows, it's only the first day. Mr. McGuire seemed really nice, he teaches reading. He likes to recomend books to us, mention interesting things he's read, and talk about cool real life experiences in class. I think Razi might have been on theis team of classes and teachers last year when he was in the seventh grade. Ms. Bloomfeild was from Jamaica, I think she just recently moved to Florida or something. None of us were particularly fond of her, because she would ramble on about how she liked this school because of the uniform, unlike most of the middle schools in the area. She kept on staring at me, and because she's the one who takes my class to lunch, and I'm the one who sits closest to the door, I have to lead the line. Ok, for one thing, I don't think we need to be a line. We are middle schoolers, we know where the lunch room is, I think we can get there by ourselves, thank you very much. And seconly, I'm no line leader. I felt really nervous and uncertain leading her line, I felt like I might accidently go to fast for her, or not stop or go when she wants me to, which I did a couple times, by the time we got to the lunch room, there were so many other students around, that I could't tell that there were only six of my class behind me. Luckily, we hurried back to the rest of the line, who apparently stopped without a real reason, before the teacher caught up with the line. stare So...
Little did I know that this wouldn't be my only first day for the next year.
